The Assembly Presents Book, Beer, & Politics with Frank Bruni, Bill Adair, & David Graham
Join three Triangle-based national journalists for drinks and discussion at Durham’s Motorco Music Hall, where they will talk about the stories behind their new books and the future of North Carolina and national politics. All proceeds from the evening will support The Assembly’s reporting and our work to strengthen local journalism in North Carolina.
Frank Bruni has been a prominent journalist for more than three decades, including more than 25 years at The New York Times, in roles as diverse as op-ed columnist, White House correspondent, Rome bureau chief, and chief restaurant critic. He is the author of four New York Times bestsellers, and in 2021 joined the faculty at Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy. His new book The Age of Grievance, explores the roots and the stakes of our outrage-driven politics.
Bill Adair is the creator of PolitiFact, cofounder of the International Fact-Checking Network, and the Knight Professor of the Practice of Journalism and Public Policy at Duke University. He’s won a Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting at PolitiFact, the Manship Prize for New Media in Democratic Discourse, and the Everett Dirksen Award for Distinguished Coverage of Congress. His new book, Beyond the Big Lie, examines how politicians lie and why.
David A. Graham is a staff writer at The Atlantic, where he covers politics and national affairs. He won the Toner Prize for Excellence in National Political Reporting for his coverage of the 2020 presidential election. He previously reported for Newsweek, The Daily Beast, and The Wall Street Journal. His new book, The Project, explores how the Trump administration’s policy agenda was shaped by Project 2025.
Ticket proceeds benefit The Assembly’s work in North Carolina. Books by Bruni, Adair, and Graham are available for purchase from Flyleaf Books and will be sold at the event.
