Roderick Paulin New Orleans Sextet

Roderick "Rev" Paulin, a New Orleans native and music educator with a 40+ year career, continues to refine his skills both professionally and personally. His journey began with his father, Ernest "Doc" Paulin, in the city's vibrant brass band scene. This early exposure ignited a lifelong passion for music and education, evident in his illustrious career.

Paulin's resume boasts collaborations with numerous renowned musicians and groups. He's a mainstay at iconic New Orleans venues like Tipitina's, the Maple Leaf Club, Snug Harbor, Preservation Hall, and Mahogany Jazz Hall, consistently contributing to the city's rich musical tapestry. A versatile musician, he excels on both saxophone and clarinet, with his 2024 clarinet debut album, "OLD TO NEW," dedicated to his brother, clarinetist Rickey Paulin, and the pioneers of traditional New Orleans music. He stands as a prominent figure among Black New Orleans clarinetists dedicated to preserving this art form, alongside esteemed figures like Dr. Michael White — 1970’s alum of Doc Paulin’s Brass Band.
