Playdate Create: Scent Storytelling

Bright Black joins DAC as a partner, offering a new parent-child workshop series on Fridays, called Playdate Create: Scent Storytelling.

You remember 35% of what you smell, but only 5% of what you see and 2% of what you hear—so what if we harnessed our most powerful sense to create art? In this parent-and-child class, you’ll learn how to transform scent into stories—and stories into scent. Smell is the one sense with a backstage pass to the brain, going straight to the centers of memory and emotion, which is why fragrance can move us so quickly and deeply.

Through read-aloud picture books from the Scented Storytime collection, scented painting and simmer-pot creations, scented fidget crafting, body-fragrance making, and guided emotion exploration, you’ll take olfaction even further by connecting it to our hearts and using it to create scented art. Scent storytelling conveys messages uses aromas to inspire, provoke thought, spark creativity, and ignite imagination for you and your child.

Please register each child participating. No more than 1 adult per child may attend each class date, so please plan accordingly. Required $10 supply fee due to the instructor upon arrival for all necessary supplies.
