Music in the Gardens: Christian Lopez
Hailed as an “Americana wunderkind” by Rolling Stone when he burst onto the music scene in 2017, Christian Lopez is now a prolific and mature artist, set to release his fourth studio album, “Magdalena,” on June 6. Over the years, Lopez’s Americana has morphed into a more genre-blending “roots rock” sound; but in every original song, a trace of Lopez’s Appalachian upbringing rings through in the strains of his guitar playing, or the imagery of his lyrics. With each new album, Lopez has showcased his continued musical expansion and innovation.
