History Nature Walk on New Year's Day with John Schelp

Kick off the new year with a unique adventure that blends history and nature! Join ECWA on New Year's Day for a nature walk that will explore the history of Pearl Mill Nature Preserve. Make sure to bring a water bottle and wear closed-toe shoes you don't mind getting dirty!

John Schelp worked with the Peace Corps and USAID in Congo for seven years and was an elections observer with Jimmy Carter in Liberia. He's served as president of the Old West Durham Neighborhood Association, History museum advisory board, Pauli Murray steering committee, Mayor's Sesquicentennial Commission, president of the NC Peace Corps Association, chair of UNC-Greensboro’s Parent Council, vice-president of the NAACP-Durham branch, and president of the People's Alliance Fund. Now retired, John worked at the National Institutes of Health for more than 32 years.
