In the year 2257, ex-military cabbie Corbin Dallas, played by Bruce Willis, must take action when the fate of the world falls into the back of his cab in the form of Leeloo, played by Milla Jovovich. As the living fifth element, Leeloo must reunite with the other four elements to stop a great evil from destroying the world. Together with Father Vito Cornelius, played by Ian Holm, Dallas must complete the mission before the vile industrialist Zorg, portrayed by Gary Oldman, ends all humanity.

In this film based on the William Gibson story, Johnny (Keanu Reeves) is a data courier who has a secret stash of information implanted into his mind. However, the data will kill Johnny if he cannot retrieve it within 48 hours. Accompanied by physically enhanced bodyguard Jane (Dina Meyer), Johnny sets out to acquire the passwords he needs to save himself. Worse yet, he is hunted by gangster Shinji (Denis Akiyama) and businessman Takahashi (Takeshi Kitano), both of whom seek the data Johnny possesses. Also starring Ice-T, Henry Rollins, Udo Kier, and Dolph Lundgren.
