Join Plant Ecologist Sam Wright for an engaging overview of native plants—what they are, what makes them unique, and why they’re essential to the health of our ecosystems! As natural habitats continue to disappear due to development and land use changes, gardening with native plants has never been more important. This presentation will explore how native plant species support native wildlife, conserve water, and help restore balance to our landscapes. Whether you're a gardener, land manager, or just curious about how to make a difference, this talk will provide practical insight into how going native can help protect biodiversity and strengthen our connection to place.

Sam Wright is a plant ecologist with 25 years of experience in plant conservation, habitat restoration, and land management. With a BS in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida and an MS in Biology from the University of South Florida, Sam specializes in combating invasive plants, preserving native species, and restoring habitats. Sam owns and manages EcoGuy Environmental Consulting, which assists property owners in the Triangle area with habitat restoration. Services include removing invasive plants, developing management plans, and replanting native species to restore natural ecosystems.
