Dreamscapes, A holiday handbell concert featuring Bell Durham

This holiday handbell concert features dreamy favorites as well as traditional carols (some suitable for singing along!) and festive holiday music. Hear new versions of “Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy” from The Nutcracker and “Sleigh Ride” (as recorded by the Ronettes) as well as two pieces from Wicked, “For Good” and “Ozdust Duet.” The program also features “Meditations on the Theme of Peace,” a recent composition by Derek K. Hakes in response to the global increase in violence.

This family friendly event will last about an hour.

Bell Durham is Durham’s first community handbell ensemble. Using six octaves of handbells, handchimes, and various other instruments, the ensemble plays advanced music from around the world and across the musical spectrum including traditional handbell music, classical music arranged for handbells, pieces by modern handbell composers, and seasonal classics with a handbell twist. Handbell composer and clinician Mitchell Eithun serves as musical director.
