David Arcus Organ Recital: All Arcus!
Arts at St. Luke’s will present All Arcus!, an organ recital by David Arcus featuring original compositions. David will perform original compositions written over the course of his professional music career. The recital will include the world premiere of music composed in 2025, Prologue, and the complete performance of his Symphony No. 1 for Solo Grand Organ, composed in 1998.
Formerly organist at Duke Chapel, David Arcus was appointed organist at St. Luke’s in April of 2024 and now serves as St. Luke’s Director of Music. He served at Duke University in various capacities for nearly 30 years in Duke Chapel, the Department of Music, and Duke Divinity School, as well as on the faculties of East Carolina University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His career spans activities as a recitalist, conductor, composer, teacher, clinician, and director of the American Guild of Organists National Competition in Organ Improvisation (2009-10). A winner of improvisation and composition competitions, he holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory and Yale School of Music. His compositions are published by Concordia, Hinshaw, and Wayne Leupold. His commercially released recording, Organs of Duke Chapel, is on the Gothic Label.
A reception will follow the recital. This event is free and open to the public. Donations to benefit St. Luke’s music program are welcome.
