Erté was one of the most influential artists during the 1920s and notably famous for his fashion, costume and set designs. He was referred to as the "The Father of Art Deco." His illustrations depicted models in luxurious, dream-like pieces adorned with feathers, jewels and beautifully draped fabrics.
