Barrier Breakers: From Jackie to Pumpsie 1947-1958 Exhibit

BARRIER BREAKERS: From Jackie to Pumpsie–1947-1959, is an exhibit developed by the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) in Kansas City, Missouri, which tells the important, but oftentime overlooked story of the courageous players who integrated their respective Major League Baseball (MLB) teams from Jackie Robinson joining the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947 through Elijah "Pumpsie" Green completing the integration cycle, 12 years later, with the Boston Red Sox.

Robinson has rightfully been hailed for being the courageous first to break MLB's six-decade long, self-imposed color barrier. But those other integration pioneers who followed him endured tremendous social adversity as they trailblazed a path in their pursuit to play ball! The moral majority of them were former Negro Leaguers. This exhibit chronicles their story!
