Baron Tymas and the Swingtet

The Swingtet returns to Sharp 9 for a special evening of straight-ahead jazz spanning the 1930s through the 1970s—music that swings hard, sings deeply, and honors the lineage. This concert is dedicated to the band’s founder, Jim Ketch, whose vision built one of the Triangle’s most beloved ensembles and consistently packed this room.

For 2026, the Swingtet enters a new chapter under the leadership of guitarist Baron Tymas. This special concert features Ryan Hanseler, Aaron Gross, Donovan Cheatham, Evan Roberson, and Dexter Moses, all bandleaders and creative artists in their own right. Together, they bring authority, joy, and fire to classic repertoire—Basie, Ellington, the Great American Songbook, and beyond—played with respect, freshness, and irresistible groove.

If you love timeless jazz played by musicians who truly live with the music, this is your night. Expect great playing, great tunes and a full house.
