Angel Iset Dozier is 50! A Free Community Jubilee at Annexe

Angel Iset Dozier turns 50, and Durham is invited.

For 27 years, Angel has been salt to this city, living, loving, creating, and organizing with deep care across Durham’s many communities. She has poured vision into rooms that did not yet know how to hold it, built bridges where there were gaps, and reminded us that culture is infrastructure.

Angel is the founder of Be Connected Durham, a community rooted organization that cultivates creative collaboration, supports artists and cultural workers, and advances equitable development through programming, storytelling, and strategic organizing. Through festivals, public conversations, advocacy, and bold leadership, she has helped shape spaces where Durham’s Black history, artistry, and future can thrive together.

This celebration is free and open to the public at Annexe. Raise a glass, share a memory, dance a little, and honor a woman whose labor, love, and leadership have nourished this city for nearly three decades.
