I love this studio! They offer classes of different levels, so I can challenge myself or give myself a break. Every teacher teaches in a different style, which took me awhile to get used to because I practiced with the same instructor for the past few years in my previous studio, but I came to embrace this diversity and appreciate it so much. Strongly recommended :)

My husband was receiving medical treatment from Duke, and Durham became our home for about 5 weeks. I love going to different studios when I travel, and Durham has a lot of options. My first studio visit was to Yoga off East, and I made it my yoga home while we were in the area. With a full schedule and a variety of classes, it was easy to take time for my practice. But what I loved best was the community that practices there. I felt included and welcome at all the classes, and that is what yoga is all about for me: the community. I miss this sweet studio that provided respite for me, and I can't wait to get back.

Yoga Off East is an excellent yoga studio in the heart of the American Tobacco Campus in Durham. It’s an absolutely beautiful space in an old, converted tobacco warehouse and I am always pondering the history of the building while relaxing in class. The main yoga studio is just beautiful with its Buddha mural wall, and stunning views of the outside courtyard. YOE is what I would consider a more traditional yoga studio, with its roots firmly in traditional yoga practice as opposed to more modern “workout style” yoga - and I think there is room for both styles so it’s a huge asset we have this. They also have the absolute highest standard of instructors I’ve seen at any yoga studio. Every instructor I’ve had at YOE seems exceptionally talented, both in terms of their ability to develop and demonstrate interesting or challenging movements, their ability to teach and lead a class, and their overall ethos and philosophy. It’s a testimony to this studio that this is the studio I’ve seen the most teachers from other studios attend! I particularly want to call out Shauna’s Sunday afternoon restorative class, which is far and away my favorite restorative and meditative class I’ve ever attended; and Leslie’s Monday night yin classes which can move from gentle relaxations through extremely challenging poses seamlessly. Very highly recommended

We had the most wonderful experience hosting a private graduation yoga class at Yoga Off East. From start to finish, everything exceeded expectations. Kathryn was incredible to work with, her communication was quick, clear, and made the entire booking process seamless. She helped us secure the space for a private session with Leslie and ensured we had time to gather afterward and celebrate our graduates.

The studio itself is exactly as described…a true “big exhale” the moment you walk in. It’s a beautiful, light-filled space that feels calm, intentional, and deeply rooted in community. Leslie led an amazing class that was the perfect way to reset and reflect at the end of the year.

We’re so grateful for the experience and highly recommend this studio for private events or classes. Such a special space in Durham!

Before my first class, I already felt a sense of calm with the water features in American Tobacco District. I was warmly greeting at the studio and given instructions on how to check in, where the tea was (there were two kinds already brewed) and where to find the restrooms. The studio is airy, large, and urban. Huge windows that were recently made sound proof, markers on the floor to space out mats and a well stocked props area. The three instructors I've had are skilled, personable and unique in style. I will continue practicing at Yoga Off East.
