I wanted to like this place, but it was just so expensive for what it is. We spent over 96+tax for two standard meals and three sides (which we used as kids meals since they don't have any). Beer selection was good, but way more expensive than going across the street to the bar. On top of that, we didn't think the food was great either. The mozerella sticks were very greasy, the fish and chips were way over cooked, and the burger was fairly small. The waitress was very nice and attentive, but hard to make up for the rest.

We love it here! Great drinks, amazing food (best wings in Durham!!), and the friendliest people that always make it feel like home. And make sure you don’t miss trivia on Wednesday nights, it’s the best around! We couldn’t ask for a better neighborhood pub!

We really wanted to like West 94th St Pub. Trivia has been the absolute best and the host Demetrius is amazing! However, over the passing weeks, we noticed our service gradually decline. We started arriving early to trivia due to their new policy that they can’t make reservations on trivia nights. We’ve ended up sitting for an hour before the waitress bothers to take our order — it’s the same waitress every week, who was way more on top of it when we first started coming. If we asked for anything extra, we probably weren’t going to get it. She stopped checking in on us until it was time for the check. Since we mostly come for trivia, we can tolerate it, but it definitely became annoying to deal with. We’ve brought guests who have decided not to come back due to the service our group would get.
Eventually, the waitress and the owner of the bar made their problem with our group obvious: they have repeatedly asked one of our friends to cover up more and not to cuss as much. As far as we know, no one else has been asked to limit their behavior like this. Other patrons have yelled out curses during trivia. I regularly wear revealing tops and they have not said anything to me. In fact, one day I wore a dress where my butt was at least somewhat out, and the owner complimented the dress!
Today, my friend was lectured by the owner for her outfit and told “you’re way more appealing when you cover up” and she “can’t have people dressed like that in a family business.” I want to emphasize this is a dive bar where the average customer is 40 years old.
My friend is black, and it definitely feels racially motivated, if not also a little misogynistic. They’re allowed to run their business the way that they want, but considering the kinds of people who mostly come to the bar (no families and left-wing), it feels counterintuitive. My friend made a joke that it sucks to be black to our friend group (not even directed at either of the employees), the waitress overheard, told the owner, and had her kicked out.
Also, the food is middling at best. Anything that isn’t bar food is abysmal - I got their specialty mac and cheese once and couldn’t even finish it. And they don’t know what a fried chicken sandwich is. -
We stopped in here on a whim and were really glad we did. The atmosphere was exactly what you'd want from a pub. Good music, a fun vibe, and a welcoming place to hang out.
The bartender was friendly, personable, and made us feel right at home. The food was delicious, and the drinks were made really well. One thing I thought was especially cool was that they had games available, so while we waited for our food, we played a game of Uno. It made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
If you're looking for a relaxed place with great food, good drinks, and friendly service, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out. I'll definitely be back! -
I have been coming here since 2007 and always have felt very welcome. Tonight I came for a pork barbecue sandwich and it was a sloppy delicious mess and just what I was looking for. I paired it with house chips and a side of bleu cheese. Even though I didn’t come in to drink this evening, my favorite beer is Yeungling. I am a creature of habit and whenever I walk in the door 1 is already poured for me. I always see a friendly face and frequently come for karaoke night. I have so many wonderful memories here and estsblishments like this are rare. Come by, check it out and have a drink!
