Problems with students AND teachers having mental health issues and committing suicide. Problems with bullying. Very cliquey school but I don't even blame anybody because the schooling is so rigorous there isn't any time to make friends in class. Counselors will force students to take more ap classes than they can handle and also apply to more colleges than they need to. All they care about it their school's legacy. I knew a lot of students were sexually assaulted on campus and nothing was done about it. The school is always dirty and is dilapidated, has rooms with asbestos and is peeling lead paint. Genuinely awful experience, I hated going here. Only highlights are the few teachers who knew the school was a sinking ship and left with their dignity in tact. Thank you Mr.Ritchie, Mr.Ware, Ms. Moehrke, and my AP psych teacher who also left. -
Horrible school. Especially for the mentally disabled kids. The school counselors talk shit about most of the disabled or “weird” kids. School doesn’t do much about bullying, not a safe place for kids. The school lunches are normally horrible… at least they have the decency to put cops all around the school.. although it doesn’t stop kids from being jumped or threatened to be jumped. Do not recommend this school for anyone. -
So, I am going to a new school next year. I love DSA different parts of it I love and different parts of it that I dislike. My 6th grade teachers were good teachers. Shout to Mr. Lewis, probably the funniest and best science teacher out of the ones I had. I will miss DSA deeply. I am going to high next year, I will absolutely miss Chorus and our great concerts so much. My 7th grade teachers were amazing. My 8th grade teachers, 2023-2024 was a lot and I would not like to go back to 8th grade because of many teachers I had. Most of the students are nice, many aren’t, it’s typical middle school behavior, just a recommendation, don’t get mixed up in the wrong crowd 😉 -
I'm in the 6th grade, and it's a great start. To a bright future. But I also know there's a lot of issues at DSA but it can always change. -
