We drove from Knightdale once again to give V’s a second chance.
Our experience was bad.
We ordered the oxtails and rice, cabbage/greens mix, and Mac & cheese.
Both of our plates were inedible. We ended up throwing them in the trash.
The oxtails were very overcooked, tough, stringy and hard.
Of course we realized this when we got back to Knightdale.
****The manager was nice and processed a refund for me. However, my daughter paid in cash , so we would have to make another trip to Durham to get her refund. Which is an inconvenience.
I appreciate the refund, but we still wasted time, gas and energy. And after driving all the way to Durham, we had to go back out to get food we could actually eat.
V’s Kitchen, we won’t be returning. Disappointing.

I’m giving this place a 5 star because I want to give them another chance to do better.
The service is prompt and friendly.
The restaurant is really nice.
However, the cabbage was way too sweet with absolutely NO chili & the oxtails were too salty.
The Mac & cheese was really good.
I’m going to give them another chance. I may have just gotten a bad batch. -
My son and I came here for lunch and unfortunately wasted $40. I had the 2 piece chicken meal with Mac and pinto beans. My son had the fish plate with Mac and Mashed potatoes and gravy. This was by far the worst soul food I’ve ever had. The chicken had no seasoning, the mac was terrible and the pinto beans also had no seasoning. Although the food was terrible, The young lady who took our order was very sweet. She offered “to fix whatever was wrong and make it right,” but it was literally everything needed redone. I left my entire platter there on the table, along with my son. I hope this was just a fluke, as there is no possible way there’s this many good reviews with the food being anything like what we tasted this past Tuesday. I was so disappointed.

We had a truly soulful experience at V’s Kitchen! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome with their warm hospitality and friendly service. The atmosphere was inviting, and the food tasted just like a home-cooked meal.
Everyone in our family ordered something different, and every dish was delicious. Eli loved the fried chicken with mac and cheese. I enjoyed the tender, flavorful oxtails. Craig had the fish and shrimp plate, which was cooked perfectly, and Grandma couldn’t stop talking about her smothered pork chops.
One of the things that made our visit even more special was being able to support a local farmer while we were there. We purchased red, orange, and yellow watermelons, which was a wonderful bonus and a great way to support the local community.
If you’re looking for authentic Southern soul food, generous portions, friendly people, and a restaurant that truly values community, V’s Kitchen is a must-visit. We will definitely be back!

We live in brier creek and wanted to get something new. We loved the food everything was hot and fresh minus the cornbread.
We had the fish and shrimp plate with collard/ cabbage mix, sweet potato fluf and 4 chicken wings. Everything was fried to perfection and seasoned well.

The best restaurant in Durham you’ve never heard of. I’ve been here most of my life and luckily discovered this restaurant on accident. Thankfully I did because it’s some of the best chicken, mac and cheese and collards I’ve had in my life. The cornbread was to die for. I will definitely be back.
