Stop in for modern Indian cuisine and craft cocktails. As a highly upvoted, recent Reddit review listed: Start with the Jeera wings (crazy delicious chicken wings) and Gobi Sukka (cauliflower). The Achari Paneer is delicious — a spiced salty cheese. Out of the curries, the Chicken Murg Mykanwala is my favorite. And the Baigon Bharta (eggplant) is a nice side to mix in. If you’re not used to spicy, order your dishes mild and expect a good kick of spice.

Every bit of my experience was excellent, with special thanks to our server Doug. He made excellent recommendations and gave us impeccable service. My friend and I met for dinner on a Wednesday evening. We’d made a reservation but it wasn’t overwhelmingly busy so I’m not sure if we’d have needed one. We were seated at a table in the front corner, cozy and comfortable. We ordered cocktails, appetizers, and entrees but had no room left for dessert. Each course was excellent and there was plenty leftover for lunch the next day. I had pumpkin curry + chicken for my entree and at a medium spice level, it was perfect for me. I can’t wait to go back and try some more of their menu! -
I went with a group of 10 people after an event at American Undergound. We arrived around 9 PM. It took a while to get a table but the wait was worth it because our server was very friendly and patient with our questions about the food.
I got myself Sarson ka saag, medium spiciness. It got just the right amount of heat. My friend got himself chicken vindaloo and unfortunately it was too spicy for him, even with naan, so I helped him finish his plate.
The highlight of the night was the Pani Puri! I've never had it before and wasn't sure about the correct way to eat it, but I liked how crunchy the wheat bowl was and the sauce had a nice kick.
Everything was on a more expensive side, but totally justified for how big the portion was!
We appreciate that this restaurant opens pretty late. Definitely good for businessmen and other night owls.
Side note: make sure to order the turmeric mango lassi! That beverage goes well with almost any meal. -
Our experience at viceroy was underwhelming - the restaurant itself is very beautiful but the food was mediocre.
We got Spicy Papi, Sev Puri, Cauliflower Chettinaad, and Chicken Korma (spicy). The Spicy Papi was okay, very prominent cinnamon flavor, Sev Puri was more like Papdi Chaat (not the best or the worst), the Cauliflower was the best thing we ate (crispy and delicious) and the spicy chicken korma was very bland and not spicy at all.
What was most disappointing was the service, we had finished our meal and our waiter stopped to clean the table beside us without checking in, and then proceeded to do the rounds on all his other tables, leaving us sitting there for 15 minutes before we asked the hostess if we could get the bill.
Had high hopes and was disappointed with the food, especially for the price point. -
Fun supper club! Viceroy didn’t disappoint! Started off with some amazing drinks while sharing a paneer tikka dish + garlic naan. Then Curry for everyone!! Everything was sooo delicious. -
Cadbury rice pudding is really where this review needs to start and end. Divine. Excellent beer and wine and cocktail list too - but the star is the British style Indian food with a twist here and there. Service is excellent. A must visit in downtown Durham.
