Toast is my favorite restaurant in Durham! Their food is incredibly creative, fresh, and more affordable than its neighboring competition. I recommend their soups and crostinis!

I enjoyed every bite. My only regret, I was only able to eat about half. So, I boxed up the rest and looked forward to eating the rest later. Ten minutes later I became very sad as I realized I'd left it on the table

One of my favorites in Durham. Great sandwiches and soup - have never had a meal I didn't love. Owner works the register and is the kindest person who makes you feel welcome. Can get crowded but nice seating outside too. Highly recommend.

Very innovative crostini combinations. Great soups! Paninos are good, but the crostinis are exceptional! Good vegetarian and vegan options!

Roasted beets were AMAZING! Service with a smile. They go above and beyond to ensure their customers feel safe with no contact service. This place serves a great lunch. Lots of choices, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. The sandwiches are fresh and I like the green salad for a side. I’d highly recommend.

Even though you can't dine in, the food is excellent. I enjoy the portabella mushroom sandwich and a bowl of soup. I have never been disappointed. The staff is awesome as well. I highly recommend eating at Toast!

I make my way straight to Toast whenever I arrive in Durham. This charming little restaurant has an ever changing menu Crostini plates with seasonal toppings, a couple of soups, a salad with an exceptional dressing and an array of panini. Delicious with a glass of ice tea.

Loved the contactless pick up! Ordering online was simple, paid online, and the food was as nutritious and tasty as always! Thanks also for always having a good variety of vegetarian options ! 😃

Toast is ORIGINAL Durham. Kelli Cotter is just a delight and we always saw her out about town, when that was a thing. Ingredients are always fresh and seasonal. I'm a creature of habit, so I always opt for the 3 cheese panini (aka "adult grilled cheese"). It's buttery, rich, and delightful! Always a good idea to throw in some crostinis on the side too. All are delicious, but my favorites are the garlicky mushrooms w thyme and the warm goat cheese, honey, & cracked pepper.

We just moved back to Durham after being away for a year and I was so glad to see Toast was serving during covid. Their food is so fresh, you can taste the care they put into their food and I have never had a bad meal there. The recipes are inventive and varied. Today we had some soup that was out of this world

The crostini was on perfectly crunchy toasted bread, with a good schmear (is that a word) of mackerel robiola spread, not too fishy, just salty enough to make me want more. The salad was bright and crisp, with a not-too-spicy tuna salad olivada. I considered this a two-fer since I wound up with two meals for the price of one.

Love this place! It's one of my favorites in downtown Durham. Wonderful homemade food (I highly recommend the soup, tuna olivada, and smoked salmon) and friendly staff. I feel at home here.

This place was delicious! Despite the space being a little small we were able to find a table easily and our food was served quickly. You could taste the fresh ingredients and tell that nothing was frozen. The prices were fair as well. We will definitely make a point to stop in again next time we're in the area!

Excellent food. It's easy for a panini to end up sloppy so I was happy that mine was plated beautifully. The staff handled the lunch crowd very efficiently. The restaurant was very nice, good use of space.

So many options in this cozy spot! All of the food is delicious- whether you decide on something hot or cold, soup or salad, it will be incredible. The space is perfect for a casual date or meeting with a few friends. Great for a lunch break, too! Stop in during colder times to warm up with one of their delicious ever-changing soup options- they are always to die for.

Clean, warm atmosphere. Soup was good, but panini wasn't very good. It had prosciutto, mozzarella and roasted tomato, but really needed mustard or vinaigrette.

Love that their bread is fresh everyday from gugelhopf. Their chicken salad is great, no fruit or other shenanigans in it. I wish they would put meet to edges of the sandwich but thats an easy fix.

Lots of cilantro and stylish lunch options. It's never bad, but I'm never particularly satisfied with any dish I get there. I never eat anything enthusiastically there. There are veg options and pork, but no hearty meat options if you don't eat pork. I still don't have a favorite or anything I'd miss even a little if they shut down. That's quite unusual for me, even at hole in the wall restaurants or dive bars that serve pub food, so I think that's a very bad sign.

This cute Paninoteca was really good. The atmosphere was comfy and the decor was calming. You go to the counter and order your food then we got a number for our table and waited to be served. It was clean and the workers were friendly. We waited for our food a little longer then I would have liked but it was fresh and delicious! That’s my 2 cents now you decide.

Yum, yum, and did I say yum?? The ingredients are fresh and the combinations are a sweet surprise to the palate. Tons of vegetarian options!! This place is about 30 mins away from me and I will for sure drive it again to enjoy a great meal.

About ten years passed between visits to Toast and I was so happy the place was still there. Super great food and really friendly staff. Will try to make another trip sooner than 2029.

I *LOVE* Toast. Their food is so amazing. I've been going to this restaurant occasionally for almost ten years and I have never once been disappointed. Their goat cheese and honey crostinis are a particular favorite of mine and my family's, and any puree soup they have is bound to be delicious. So highly recommended.

I was staying down the street so it was a very easy half mile walk. I saw really good reviews online and I wanted brunch. Lol. I like trying and experiencing new things(food related only lol) and decided on Toast because of what I saw on the menu. Had my order taken outside but I felt like eating indoors. Had a glass of white and ordered the 3 crostinis and a cup of soup. 1. Goat cheese with local honey and pepper. 2. Chicken liver with bacon and onion. 3. Garlicy mushrooms with thyme and gorganzola. The soup thay I chose was a arborio rice, summer squash & asiago. I also ordered the shrimp and sunchoke salad for later. Service was decent and the food arrived within about 15 mins or so, so not that bad of a wait at all...The soup was divine! Very creamy and lots of flavor. Out of the three crostini the goat cheese was my absolute favorite. They were all delicious, that one was just my favorite. When it comes to the shrimp salad: Oh.My.Gosh. 🤤🤤🤤. Tons of pieces of shrimp, chopped sunchokes(yum), celery, etc. with their housemade aioli that seems to have the exact amount of lemon in it. I ordered it as an after thought, but I am not regretting my decision at all. 😍😍 I am definitely going to go back the next time I visit Durham. I found my new favorite brunch spot. Thank you Toast.❤
