Delicious soup and curry! Friendly and helpful staff. Also, this is one of the few places in Durham where (~if you ask for it~) they can actually make legit spicy food. Also great for my friends who don’t love spice, but so excited to find a place that delivers on spice if you ask for it. Love this place!

I ordered Drunken Noodles with veggies. For my taste, it was too heavy on the noodles and light on the veggies. The noodles were so huge, they needed to be cut. You can't fit a whole one in your mouth. It just felt ... weird ... trying to eat that dish. The spice/seasoning was good. The service was attentive and fast. This is apparently an award-winning restaurant, yet I prefer the modest Pad Thai establishment on Guess Road.

Disclaimer - I've only done two pickup orders on weekday evenings, and I get noodle dishes. I love Thai food so I like to think I have an idea of what a good dish takes like. Pros - clean restaurant, nice casual atmosphere. Staff is helpful and friendly. Cons - the food isn't great. My dumplings were dry. The noodle dishes have way too much sauce, and the flavor isn't what I expected out of Pad See Ew and Drunken Noodle (this could be personal preference). The meat doesn't seem to be seasoned either. The fresh rolls were good, but nothing special.

Really great food and the waitress staff was fantastic! Good location for me because I just work down the street. Definitely my favorite Thai resturant in Durham! Also a beautiful location to sit and relax.

Food and service were good, better than most. Still not accustomed to pay for extra rice. Overall not a bad place, may return. Green curry was ok, could have been spicier and more flavorful. Other dishes were acceptable. Fries calamari was fantastic.

The food was amazing and the love the dining room decor. The staff were quick to greet and seat me once I entered. Throughout my dining experience they made sure that I was comfortable and satisfied. I definitely recommend Thai @ Main and I will be back.

This place has great food, ambiance, and service. It is low key, not noisy, not crowded even when busy. They are accommodating to vegetarians, e.g. we asked for their summer rolls with tofu rather than pork, and they were fantastic! My husband has a favorite seafood dish and I love the traditional noodle dishes.

I work at the club next door and I order here all the time. Pad Thai with chicken and the spring rolls is my usual and it’s delicious!

Friendly staff, good food, and usually excellent service. Plenty of choices for people who like spicy, or for the less spice-inclined.

This place is doubtless one of the coolest place to eat in the area. Every time I go there I am incredibly happy. They maintain their high standard service and the topmost level of dishes they provide. You can never go wrong with this restaurant. Very recommended.

Great food but the staff could've been more courteous. They weren't able to explain the dishes well and were talking about extra charges which really made the situation awkward. I had been there twice so I was aware of the costs. Must try: Thai iced tea and Pad Thai

Back in Durham after a few years, and OH WOW!!! Downtown is hopping. Thai on Main got good reviews, but you know how that goes. Sometimes, not so honest. I loved the fact that it was not packed. It ruins an intimate dining experience when tables are smashed together. The food was fresh and superb, despite the reasonable prices. I ate alone, alas, and really wished I had brought 5 friends so we could eat family style. Next time. I ordered the papaya salad, which I consider an absolute must for a serious Thai diner. Bang on! Perfect. I went on an adventure and tried the Duck with Ginger Sauce, two of my favorite flavors. That is the pic with the orchid. I am a light eater and this was perfect. I could not have asked for anything to be different. My real "find" on this trip.

Great for lunch and dinner. The specials are always spectacular. Don't forget to try a Thai beer.

Food didn’t taste as fresh as my favorite Thai places. The flavors weren’t there, and the fried tofu seemed old. Same sensations in the fresh spring roll - shrimp was almost spongy. The awful smooth-jazz music definitely didn’t help.

Good informal spot for lunch or dinner with good prices and value in downtown Durham. Food is solid and plentiful. Service is friendly and efficient. Physical space is nice enough. Wouldn't really say anything is spectacular, but it is a good meal at good price.

It had a nice warm ambience. In the midst of the pandemic; it's the type of restaurant that can take your mind off things & just chill, enjoy the moment.

I ordered drunken noodles with tofu and it was good. A little salty and strong in taste but it was nice. It was casual, street food-ish experience

A shout out to Thai @ Main. During the Covid 19 situation, our neighborhood is ordering from various restaurants once/week, with one person going to pick up after the neighbors call in and pay for their orders (or order on line). Thai @ Main had 13 orders (many with multiple dishes) hot and ready exactly on time. They helped us to the car. Food was great--lots of good feedback from neighbors, many who had not eaten at Thai@ Main before. Thanks for great service!

We had seen great reviews of this place and ordered takeout over the phone on a weekend afternoon for 4 people- we all love Thai and always order our favorite dish at any new place we try. Food was ready quickly and was hot when picked up. The chicken satay was delicious and flavorful- definitely the best dish we ordered. The peanut salad dressing was very good- even though the salad itself is only iceberg lettuce with a tiny amount of matchstick carrot slices. Two people ordered pad Thai with chicken one ‘hot’ and one ‘Thai hot’. Both people felt the pad Thai had overall good flavor and was a quality dish, but the spice level just wasn’t there- more like a barely medium spice level even for the Thai hot. The drunken noodles- 3 of the 4 of us found it inedible due to the amount of fish sauce used. Fortunately, the one person who ordered it still enjoyed it but by the end of the dish he stopped too because the amount of sauce left in the bottom of the container made everything left taste like straight-up fish oil. As far as the green curry with chicken Thai hot: the curry lacked any flavor, had almost no heat (not even close to a medium) and tasted mainly like coconut milk with just a hint of basil. As far as the ingredients there were maybe 8 tiny red and green bell pepper slices in the entire curry which was an entree size and that is being generous. We may try again and reiterate upping the spice level (which we did over the phone and all food was labeled with the ordered heat level), but most likely we will just go back to other local Thai places that we know has the heat/flavor profile we prefer.

Stopped here for lunch and ended up getting their Grilled Chicken Special. It came with a side salad with peanut dressing that was simple, but tasty. They have alternate dressing if you're allergic and they will ask to be sure from the beginning. The main dish was really good with a whole lot of chicken that was cooked perfectly. Nice and charred on the outside and flavorful and juicy on the inside. It came with a sweet chili dipping sauce on the side. It was a very healthy lunch packed with flavor that contrasted well with the plain rice and steamed broccoli. The service was super friendly and attentive as well. The interior is nice with Thai decor and very clean. Definitely recommend this place for lunch!

I usually get Pad Thai from Thai restaurants that I try for the first time to determine their overall quality, so I decided to get their pad Thai with pork. Order was ready within 10 minutes, and the packaging looked okay. I was actually expecting something close to a gourmet pad Thai in small portions, but there was nothing special about it. All the ingredients were fresh, but the spice was way too overwhelming compared to the sauce (despite choosing a medium spice level). With the lack of sauce, the noodles and the pork were very dry overall. If you're looking for a good pad Thai, I wouldn't recommend this place.
