In 1990, Roselia Flores left Mexico and journeyed to California. Eight years later, she found herself in Durham with a dream. In 2001, she was able to secure grants and a loan from Mechanics & Farmers Bank, a historically Black-owned community bank, to open a restaurant that would help Latinos succeed and integrate into the greater Durham community. Super Taqueria, which continues to operate today, serves tacos and other authentic Mexican food.

The best authentic Mexican Taqueria in Durham, every time I’m in the area for work. I make sure to bring a customer over with me because it is too good of a restaurant not to share. Regardless of what you order the price is reasonable and the quantity is always healthy. They have their own sauce bar so you’re able to get as much as you like. Interior is very accommodating, but I think a makeover would help bring in more diverse customers. Overall, a must try! -
We just had the suadero huarache platter and asada tacos — absolutely amazing! 😍 Flavor was spot on, portions were generous, prices super cheap, and the staff (as always) were wonderful. A perfect meal all around! 🌮✨ -
Excellent Mexican food! Unfortunately, we are at the end of our stay in Durham or we would have returned many times to Super Taqueria to taste everything on the menu! Good value for dollar spent.
We had the torta with pastor (marinated pork). The sandwich included the pastor, onion, jalapenos, may, muenster cheese, pineapple, tomato, lettuce, sliced avocado and cilantro. What a great taste combination! Chips were good. Got a side of refried beans which were pretty good.
But, the big deal was the salsa bar. Two green salsas (one a little hotter than the other), one red (mild), great pico, fresh cilantro, chopped onion and a habanero salad that was extremely hot, but incredibly tasty!
Very nice and colorful decor and paintings. I would have liked more Mexican music playing. I think the only music we heard was from the kitchen.
Tres leches cake was amazing (moist but not soupy). Coffee was good, served in a unique mug with a side of three little cookies. -
The absolute best torta I've ever had in the United States. I've been looking for one like this for many years after having had them in Mexico. Beans, meat, onion, lettuce, tomato, avocado, jalapeño, and really good cheese on perfectly grilled bread. BTW this was my third visit to this restaurant, I've also been impressed with their tacos and huaraches. I recommend the brisket (suadero) for your taco and your torta! -
If you don't speak Spanish take lessons now! This place is really good. They have six coolers with different drinks in them ranging from horchata to cucumber, pineapple and tamarind. Real food that's really good. I got three tacos of different kinds and they gave me four little containers for salsa from the salsa bar. I like this place. It was pretty crowded at lunch time.
