I had a birthday brunch for my daughter on Saturday. We drove from Benson for the shrimp and grits, only to find that it was only on Sundays. So we ordered the jambalaya and the red beans and rice. Our disappointment quickly faded because both of these dishes were fantastic! Our waiter ( I wish I could remember his name) was one of the best. He even brought my daughter a piece of rum cake with a candle for her birthday! We will definitely be visiting again. -
An awesome restaurant in a unique location! We ordered the Shrimp & Grits and the Gumbo over rice and were completely satisfied. Great taste and great portions. The strawberry lemonade was great too! Planning to stop by again during my next visit to Durham. -
We did not have a wait to be seated but got there around 7 on a Saturday. We did have to wait quite a bit for our food after we ordered though. It was worth the wait!! Our waitress Maya was sweet and attentive. Everything was delicious, a little pricey but not too bad. Would recommend and would go back again. -
My husband and I have been here twice now! Once when some live jazz music was playing and once in the main dining area. Both times the wait staff were great (Maya and someone else I can’t remember his name). The food was delicious especially their succotash and we recently tried their scallop risotto special which was to die for. And the ambiance of the place was great, especially when you are in the live music room. It’s a fun place to go eat. -
The food and atmosphere are fantastic!
Highly recommended! I have spent a lot of time along the coast Baton Rouge to NOLA and this food is authentic. What an amazing find in Durham. Make sure to introduce yourself to the chef! Truly an original.
So pleased to find an amazing spot and also support local business!
