Great ambiance, the food was good. Not as good as expected for the price point.
The BBQ shrimp was good. The boiled oyster was good but the sauce was amazing. She kept ordering bread to dip in the oyster sauce. The server never told us the bread was not complimentary. However the fried shrimp appetizer was delicious.
The server enter my shrimp and grits no bacon as shrimp and grits no mushroom. The person who delivered the food kept trying to deliver it anyway so one of the people who ordered the regular shrimp and grits felt forced to take it.
They then ordered me another which came out about 10 afterwards.
The server apologized for entering it wrong but made no offer of restitution.
Not exactly creole by flavor but delicious.
The experience made up for the lack of communication and price.
I would try it again once more before making a final decision if this is go place when visiting. -
Overall we enjoyed our experience here. It was my husband’s birthday and the ambiance was great. The food was tasty, but the portions were smaller than I anticipated. The baked oysters were the highlight of the night. Drinks were pricey but what you expect from a nice restaurant. There’s indoor and outdoor seating. The inside is dark with a nice vibe during dinner. -
Worth it just for the Gumbo! Would have preferred a seafood option but alas. Oysters were fresh...cavier addition not worth it. Fingerling potatoes were a miss for me. Overall, great meal and excellent service. Editing review: went back to Seraphine 2xs since my review...the customer service was still top notch, the vibes were vibing. What changed from 4 stars to 5 stars...i tried more of the menu and had one of the best drink experiences ever! The menu is familar but with a flair; the gumbo is still tops (still would like a seafood option)...however, those oysters are sublime. This is fast becoming a go to for me. 5 stars. -
Another good recommendation from the Michelin guide. The Croquettes were delicious and the Catfish was excellent. So tender and tasty and the beans it sat on were better than I had expected. For dessert, we ordered the Beigniets and Key Lime Pie. The outdoor seating was fine, but I would prefer to sit inside if I were to visit again. Service was friendly. -
Date night for the Mrs & I led us to give the latest New Orleans (NO) style Durham spot a try. Parking was fun with a Bull's game about to start but worked out. All started well until we walked up to the Hostess who, when informed we did not have a resy but heard the bar was open, let us know there was no space at the bar, she had NO openings (that is what she said) for 90 minutes and ended the conversation there. Didn't check the bar, didn't look at her tablet, just 'sorry'. Her clipped and curt attitude probably cost them business that evening.
So we wandered out to the general area in the heat and pondered the treatment. The Mrs. decided to 'give it another try' and went back in to take another swing at it to find The Bar Empty! 15 min's later! So much for Bar Full and 90 min's!
That now behind us we settled into the bar. Bartenders work as a team and are super attentive! Polite and informative! We started with the Croquettes and Gumbo. The Croquettes were loaded with Crayfish and nice! The Gumbo was a bit too rich but a nice spice and lots of ingredients, served with a 1/2 loaf of French (go figure) bread!
Main's were Shrimp and Grits (me) and Spinach salad with fried Oysters for the Mrs. Her Oysters were large and juicy and super well cooked with a nice warm dressing on the salad! my S&G's were good and nice portioned however, needed more spices. The Croquettes, Gumbo and Oysters delivered that NO's food spice and flair but the S&G's left me thinking of other places in The Triangle with better.
Overall the experience was worth the $110 tab (3 drinks total in that-One was a Viex Carre for the Mrs. that was superb!), the small space is quite loud with echos making quiet conversation not possible (keep that in mind), The food and bar staff saved the day after a more than rocky start. Give it a try!
