My husband and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary with a vow renewal party at seeds this month and it was such a wonderful experience! Camryn helped us plan how to best use the space, gave amazing recommendations for vendors, and ensured the space was ceremony and party ready for us. We loved celebrating in this beautiful space supporting the community and would 100% recommend this venue to all our family and friends!

This educational community garden has donated over a thousand pounds of produce for meals in the city of Durham.

We recently took our first-grade class on a field trip to SEEDS, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The staff created a space where our students felt happy, excited, included, safe, and mindblown. The hands-on activities were thoughtfully planned and age-appropriate. Our students pulled carrots out of the ground, harvested radishes, picked strawberries (and tasted them right away!), planted cucumbers, smelled herbs, tried edible flowers, and even got to touch worms. One student shared, “I’m thankful we got to try new foods and play outside too!” Another said, “Thank you for letting us see the garden. It made me feel included.” This field trip wasn’t just educational—it was joyful, grounding, and unforgettable. SEEDS truly lives up to its mission of growing community through gardening. If you’re a teacher looking for a place where your students can connect with nature, learn about food systems, and feel welcomed, SEEDS is it. We’ll definitely be back. Next time, we’d love to eat more strawberries and see more animals! Thank you, SEEDS, for being such kind and generous hosts.

Reaching All Minds Academy 8th graders recently visited Seeds, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth through urban agriculture. The visit emphasized the importance of making healthy, sustainable food choices and gave students a hands-on understanding of how urban farming can promote better eating habits and environmental awareness. This field trip was a valuable extension of their current studies, which include Michael Pollan’s The Omnivore’s Dilemma for young readers. Together, the visit and the text explore the need for Americans to rethink their relationship with food, focusing on how lifestyle diseases are linked to food choices and how to reduce or prevent these risks.

I visited SEEDS today to volunteer in the garden and had a lovely time! Afterward, I attended a class on making my own salad dressing. SEEDS offers a variety of community events that are a great way to meet new people and build connections. It’s wonderful to have such a vibrant outdoor space in the heart of Durham, and I’m looking forward to attending more events!

We've had a couple of events at SEEDS and love using their space with our team. Thanks for opening your garden up to the community!
