Truly incredible food! We got the eggplant dish & the green one. Everything was so delicious but also nuanced, flavorful, fragrant & perfectly spiced - including our teas & the hot sauce. So impressed with this spot - wish I could eat here everyday. Our server was also super warm, kind & fun. This place rules.

What a lovely family owned restaurant! I loved the atmosphere, the dim lighting and spread out seating, which made us feel very comfortable. Lakshmi was an incredible host, attentive and very friendly. Needless to say the food was spectacular, not too heavy with plenty of options. As a vegan, I loved the added sides of tofu and tempe for some protein. Will definitely be back again soon :)

Sage is by far my favorite restaurant in the area. When I saw that Sage wasn’t in Timberline when I moved back to town after being away for ten years, I was so crushed because I thought it was closed for good. Luckily, an acquaintance mentioned that it had actually reopened in Durham and I was thrilled! They still have all my old favorites (Bud-em-joon, Osh, and their house made dill dressing) as well as some exciting new items such as the Brochi. The classics are just as good as I remembered and the new items are fresh and exciting. The ambiance of the new place keeps the same charm but provides much more room for tables which is a nice upgrade! The owners, Laxmi and Richard, are amazing people who I am proud to support. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Excellent food and impeccable service! The restaurant was very full, but we felt like the only ones there. The owner welcomed us personally and made us feel at home. The house tea was delightful, with subtle hints of fresh cardamon. The samosas were to die for. So happy Sage reopened, we will definitely be back!

The service is good, the ambience decent. We tried a variety of dishes, and maybe this is just because I’m Persian, but I think that a home cook could make meals as delicious for a lower price. It was fine food, but it wasn’t anything unique.

Delicious food, best samosas I've ever had! I also had the hot Persian tea, beautiful and floral, and the bruchi, which is an amazingly fantastic vegan stew. The people were so friendly and the restaurant is clean and very relaxing. An absolute gem in Durham that I'm so happy to have stumbled on!

I’m staying at a nearby hotel and have had the vegetable lasagna two days in a row — it’s that good. Perfectly balanced flavors, beautifully fresh ingredients, and absolutely comforting without being heavy. I could eat this several times a week, gladly. The service is warm, friendly, and spot on every time. Sage is a gem — definitely worth the visit!

This was a cute place an acquaintance suggested. I went with my non-vegan parents-in-law. They don't even usually eat or enjoy indian food, but they had a great experience! Apparently the lasagna is out of this world. And I can attest that the vegan items are plentiful and flavorful. Also the owner was teaching her son how to be a good server. It was so cute and he did a great job!

This new location for Sage has such potential. It’s beautiful and welcoming, but still feels like the wonderful restaurant it was before. It was only the soft open, but the meals were refined and delicious. Thanks to Lakshmi for attentive service and a lovely experience!
