The atmosphere was cozy and nice. It was first visit to Durham and we usually find someplace nice to eat. They take reservations. We went on a Sunday night and it was not over crowded. We were taken to a table and told to wait for the table to be wiped off. They took so long I decided to sit anyway. Not a good way to start off. I was getting annoyed and feeling neglected. The server however save the day. He apologized and took care of us. The food was excellent and I was pleased. They have a few desserts, but I passed. Maybe next time. Everyone is entitled to an off day. Everyone was pleasant and the food was good.

We received excellent friendly service. Our food was brought out in a timely manner and the staff came over several times to see if everything was still okay. We were a party of 8. All of my food was excellent and everyone at the table enjoyed the dishes that they had ordered. My companions spoke so highly of the food most of what I ate were foods I have never tasted. I felt brave enough to try them! I would most definitely recommend this establishment.

I had a wonderful experience dining at Plum! When I was ented, I was greeted by the host. The waitress and the trainee were both efficient and kind. The FOOD!!!!! Every bit was delicious. The pork belly was tender, and the orange relish was a nice touch. I thought the pork belly could have used a bit of salt or herbs for flavor. It's still a delicious bite! The pork belly was cooked perfectly. Nice crispy skin. The dark sauce in the side was just okay. 4 out of 5 for the poek belly. My large plate was the market fish, and I was so happy I got it. It was one of the items I consider while looking at the menu ahead of time. But have the waitress affirm my choice by sharing her experience with the dish and feedback for other customers that have tje dish. Fresh snapper over the beautiful creamy, flavorful risotto and charred asparagus. 5 out of 5. I can't think of anything to enhance the dish. All of the large plates' descriptions were appealing. I am looking forward to trying the chicken or shrimp and grits. I also love how attentive the manager was. And the entire staff seems to work well together.

This delightful place came recommended. Airy inside with tasteful decor, and seating outside too. The food was like a hug - delicious, comforting, and nicely presented. I had the shrimp and grits as main, and a deconstructed scone for pudding. Attentive, polite and happy waiting staff, lovely chef, and Lisa the owner popped out to say hello too. I'd be a regular if I lived in the area!

What an amazing meal! So, we started out the evening with cheddar biscuits, pickle plate, brisket tacos and deviled eggs. They were gone in mere minutes. Absolutely scrumptious. (I wasn’t able to get a photo of all of them because we gobbled them up so fast.) Then we got the flank steak, shrimp and grits, grit cakes and sea bass. We all shared the plates so we could try everything. Everything was full of flavor and delicious. We rounded out the night with cheesecake, s’more, and banana pudding (sorry, I almost forgot the photo again because we jumped right in to enjoying the light and tasty desserts). It was all so good that I sent compliments to the chef especially for the banana pudding. It is the only banana pudding I have had outside of my kitchen that was real custard and not the articula banana flavored pudding (and I’ve tried many). Chefs kiss! Bravo! If you’re looking for a spot to treat yourself, check out Plum. We look forward to checking out the family style dining on Wednesdays.

Really a nice find in Durham. Lisa, the owner owner, is on site and does a great nice job pulling together Southern faire and adding a twist - in a really comfortable setting. Food > Just perfect. We did 5 small plates and loved everyone. Arugula and barely salad - and chicken liver pate were hits - as well as the pickled vegetables and biscuits. Just one desert is perfect for two people. Banana pudding was amazing. Space > Very pleasing and comfortable. Just a lovely spot. Service > Really sporadic - food arrived before drinks (for small plates and deserts). There’s just a cadence that needs to be nailed right to make it enjoyable and effortless. Needs work. Overall - feels like a wonderful standard bearer to carry on the Southern faire traditions of Magnolia Grill.

Modern Southern dining in downtown Durham. Plum focuses on offering the best home style dishes with quality ingredients, creativity + warm hospitality. The atmosphere is a take of downtown old brick Durham with a twist of southern flare interior. This restaurant shows off the little details; check presenters are tiny butcher cutting boards, the bookshelves feature southern touches (books to roosters to farm candles). The team members are inviting + friendly. Too, this restaurant is known as a supporter for living wage employer, which is wonderful for their employees. Truly is one-of-a-kind farm to table experience. See pictures + descriptions of our favorites.
