When Missy Lane's opened in early 2024, it was immediately embraced as a popular new social hub for music lovers in downtown Durham. The new space for near-nightly live performances of jazz and other musical genres hosts local musicians as well as touring acts. Missy Lane's is a straight vibe! I have attended private events here before but came to weekend brunch for the first time yesterday. It felt amazing to be in the space with the DJ spinning all faves and classics from the 80s and 90s (think Chaka, D'Angelo, Badu).
The food was great. I had cheese grits, fried eggs, bacon, and orange juice. Perfect!
I can see doing this at least 2-3x a month. Maybe I'll see you there, too.

Wonderful atmosphere for the works of Poe. The cocktails matched the tales well. The art of mixology at it's best. The actors did great telling the tales with such emotion and keeping the audience engaged. I will be looking forward to their next engagement.

The Edgar Allen Poe performance at Missy Lanes this evening was well done! The performers were excellent, and the show was extra enjoyable because they were having fun. I’ve been to the front room a few times, but this was my first show in the back room. I’ll return!

Great use of a venue.
Simple seating with basic chairs set up for the performance. Don't expect luxury. The entire experience is dependent on the activity. The performers served the drinks, seated the guests and took the tickets. Missy Lane just provided the space.

I would love to go to Missy Lane but I’m a little hesitant about taking that leap because the complaint that seems the most consistent in the reviews I’ve read are issues with the seating. What have you done, if anything to address that issue. It seems like a nice establishment and would love to come visit but I definitely have some concerns about many of the comments I’m reading regarding seating. I you five star because haven’t to you place and it wouldn’t be fair to give a low rating since haven’t been there. Picked a star in the hopes you can address my concerns . Thank you

I went to Missy Lane's assembly room for the first time today and had brunch with my girlfriends. We enjoyed ourselves so much we were sitting there making plans to come back. The food and drinks were great. Al and the gang....icing on the already great cake. Such a pleasant friendly place with great vibes and energy I can't wait to come back! I told at least five people about it on my way home.

We went to one of the DJ nights. We reserved two seats for $20 each, all of which goes to food and drink. It felt a bit weird to sit in seats that felt set up for watching a concert vs. in the main part of the bar. The drinks are good but we waited a full 30 minutes! for a drink. We were pretty frustrated and about to walk out when the drinks finally came. We didn’t want to wait another 30 minutes for another drink so we left after that first one.

Went last week for Tito Puente Jr.'s show. Absolutely amazing venue! Truly an intimate experience with music! The staff is superb! The drink variety is fantastic! Great place to spend your night!

Went here to see a show a few weeks back. What a great intimate venue. Bar service and team were very friendly and customer focused. Just awesome. The venue itself deserves some love for those who like to be near the band. My kinda spot for sure because you feel like it's a private show. I'll definitely be back again.

EAT BEFORE YOU GO. We tried to order multiple items last night and they were out. They didn’t even have fries. Come on owners…you know you’re having a day party from 5-10 on a Saturday night…Seriously, send someone to the grocery store. It’s difficult to have fun and drink when you’re hungry and a full menu is advertised, but not available. Also, please make sure devices work. Tried to place order with QR code…didn’t work. Tried to use kiosk on the wall…didn’t work. Tried to have bartender do it and he had trouble too. (Not his fault and he was very nice.) Management: Please do better. This poor experience couldn’t been avoided with a little PROACTIVE care.

The event space is nice. The actual event was over priced and the DJ was not on time. It took a while for the crowd to thicken and the dance floor to fill up.

I first attended to see a performing jazz artist. That experience was great. I attended again to see a DJ hosted event, which was cool. There was seating, but it was limited as only the front space was open. I most recently attended a DJ event, in which the entire space(s) were open. Just be warned that there is only reserved (paid) seating at these type of events now and it's very limited. Everyone else is left standing or sitting outside, if there are tables available outside. Who wants to sit outside the venue, not be able to hear the music and in the pollen?

This was my 1st time at Miss Lanes. I have a list of things I was not happy about not sure if it was that event or this is how this establishment operates. 1st we had black reject chair in the middle of the room(see photo), no tables where we were sitting, so I could not order food/drinks because I had nowhere to sit it, someone told me the drink were overpriced, 2nd I did not know what VIP or reserved seating was about, I would have preferred that seating, but most of the room was reserved. 3rd they had a screen where people could order food,(cool) but then the staff would sit the food on this table outside the kitchen, where people are talking, dancing, and walking back and forth (not cool). I gave it 3 stars because I heard good things about Miss Lanes events but not this Lovers and Friends event. Would I go back ? No, this left a bad taste, only way I go back is, if God bless me with a husband and that don’t look promising. I can say the DJ was good.

Appreciative for a business that brings the vibes to the city. I love the grown and sexy ambiance but the service and food must improve ASAP. The pale chicken wings and serving a cheese cake without utensils is wild. Small adjustments will go a long way.

What an incredible addition to Durham’s entertainment scene! The atmosphere is amazing, the live acts are top-tier, and the customer service is outstanding. The cocktails were crafted to perfection, making the experience even better. So glad we have this gem in town! I can't wait to check out the new brunch menu and catch the upcoming summer performances. If you’re a jazz lover (or just love a great vibe), this place is a must-visit!

I found Missy Lane’s Assembly Room on IG and decided to check it out—and I’m so glad I did! From the moment I called ahead to ask about the dress code, the customer service was on point. Natasha was super helpful and welcoming.
I happened to visit on a Wednesday during VIN-- a curated listening session and intimate discussion about Mary J. Blige’s My Life—pure vibes. It was something different, and honestly, the perfect way to end the night.
I was in town for a work trip, and this spot made my visit even better. Now, the food and drinks? 10/10, no notes. That cornbread alone will have me coming back every time I’m in Durham.

My friends and I used the Groove Me NC event to get out and simply have a good time. We did exactly that. We got to meet Letoya Luckett, was serve a charcuterie board, and champagne. We definitely appreciated our time!
