I read several reviews when making my reservation. Many of them weren’t very flattering. I figured I was only spending one night and could deal with whatever issues others had.
When I arrived at check-in I was immediately greeted by staff. They were very pleasant and cordial. The lobby was clean and the decor was good and appeared recently updated.
I completed the check in and went to my room and it was very nice. Not what I was expecting based on some of the reviews I read. The room had updated decor, a comfy sofa and a nice desk. The TV had streaming services you could log into if you were and existing customer.
The bathroom was clean and the hot water was “hot” and plentiful.
I made arrangements to be picked up by the van for transport to Duke hospital. Vicki, the driver, was right on time for my pickup. During the short ride to the hospital Vicki and I chatted. She was very nice and knew exactly where I needed to be.
I called Vicki after my appt and she picked me up expeditiously. Vicki was a standout in the staff!
What would improve the overall stay: there was no fresh coffee available in the morning in the breakfast area. That would have been nice the breakfast area was still closed at 7:00 AM. So early risers will need alternate arrangements for breakfast. There is a coffee maker in the room and to be honest it isn’t very good. But it is on par with other hotels.
There was a scent of cleaning products through out the hotel. That was due to the carpets being cleaned that day. However, it wasn’t overpowering, just noticeable. That does indicate that the owner does take care of the hotel. That was also apparent throughout the building.
I have continuing appts at Duke and my future stays will be at this courtyard.

First time booking through MedStay. Sam was so friendly and kind when I was reserving a hotel through MedStay while my daughter is in treatment at a local facility. He expressed genuine concern for my daughter (who has a health condition that some people don’t understand) and you can tell he truly cares about people. The hotel and staff was great as well, and the MedStay hotel price was a great value, even more so when compared to the current rates in the area (prices high due to lots of events this weekend). Sammy is awesome. I usually book a few days in advance, but on the rare occasion that I had to book on the same day I’ve never had an issue. Thank you for the service you provide. Medstay has been a blessing on a journey with my child that I never wanted to take. Thanks for making this journey less stressful and more affordable.

Having a medical special needs child & a older mother Medstay has been a lifesaver lately. Normally the hotels are charging almost $300 a night in certain areas where the hospitals are and that is quite out of our budget. I truly appreciate the ease of medstay and the caring people that work there

I absolutely adore Sam and his wife! If I'm going for MRIs or multiple appointments in Chapel Hill and have to come to UNC-Hospital, I have to stay overnight since it's a 3 hour drive from home. They help me with cheaper, but just as nice hotels(!) every time. They are efficient, accommodating and most of all very kind and helpful.

We were told about MedStay through a packet from UNC Hospital. We were not familiar with the area and proximity of places around the medical campus and asked lots of questions. MedStay was so patient and helpful in offering options and suggestions. They provided the names of restaurants close to the hotel and gave us a really good idea of what was around the hotel (restaurants/stores, etc) which was super helpful. This service is invaluable, especially when facing overwhelming medical situations and needing to focus on other things rather than finding a place to stay. Thank you, MedStay! Five star service!
