if fried seafood is what you crave then i'm sure it's fine....however....broiled captains platter left much to be desired like seasoning and being fully cooked - fish was half raw and cold - and not overcooked - shrimp and oysters were rubbery. stuffed crab had only stove top like stuffing not a bit of crab but the scallops were ok and the hush puppy rings were the best thing on the plate. This will not be my regular go to place for seafood. Atmosphere was beachy and fun but a little dated. Service was good~ -
We haven't been here in many, many years, so I read through some reviews, and we decided to give it a shot for lunch on Saturday. We were pleasantly surprised in all respects!
The service was excellent! Very friendly waiter who was very attentive and made sure our drinks were filled and got anything else we might need.
The food was delicious! Everything was lightly fried to perfection. My spouse had fried scallops that she said were perfect with fries. I had the white fish and clam strips with a baked potato. The fish was so flakey, and so many of the clam strips were much bigger than I've seen in years, plus no rubbery texture. Both entrees came with slaw. We both had leftovers.
The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated with a nautical theme throughout, including an actual boat serving as the desk where you pay when leaving.
We were thrilled to find the Mayflower serving up such great seafood and plan on returning sooner rather than later. Honestly, I'm surprised there wasn't a line out the door! -
The food got 3 stars because the meat (chicken/seafood) was not seasoned well. We had to add alot of salt just to get the bland taste out. The salad had big chunks of lettuce which made it hard to enjoy The price was good and service. -
Best places to eat and enjoy the aviance. Same taste as in the Grouchoes Restraunt, Older people will Remember in years past..Secrets passed down to the Mayflower Seafood Restraunt. Dr. David Howerton -
