Overview
If you weren’t already inspired by Chef Mike Lee’s accolades at M Sushi and M Tempura, try M Pocha for Korean street food or M Kokko as a tiny chicken-focused comfort food spot. Pocha is short for Pojanmacha in Korea, translated to a "Tented Cart on Wheels," that serves street food with drinks. Over the years, Pojanmacha has developed more into a brick-and-mortar style with a similar feel to that of a Japanese-style izakaya. Quite simply, it is a place that serves food and dishes to enjoy while drinking, mostly served tapas-style as dishes that are meant to be shared with others.

M Pocha is a great spot in Durham with really good food and a fun, lively vibe. The shrimp bread was excellent and a must-order. We also had the spicy pork buns and the drunken noodle, and everything tasted fresh and well made. The space is clean but tight, service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere had a good buzz. -
New favorite in Durham! Everything we ordered was excellent, including the drinks/wine. Service was very attentive and friendly. Everything made to order. Keep in mind it is a very small space, but nice atmosphere. 100% will be back! -
M Pocha transforms a quaint Durham corner into a warm, buzzing izakaya that feels effortlessly alive!
The evening unfolds through standout small plates, delicate Crab Shumai, deeply savory Beef Dumplings, crisp Chicken Karaage, and the truly otherworldly Shrimp Toast that demands a second order midway through the first.
The mains keep the rhythm just right, from bold, aromatic Drunken Noodles to a hearty, soul‑hugging Budae Jjigae and a beautifully balanced Nasi Goreng. But Pocha’s magic is more than flavor; It’s how it gathers people. The food, the laughter, the strangers‑turned‑tablemates, it didn’t just impress us; It brought us together! -
Took a punt on this place and it paid off. Food was proper good, none of that style-over-substance stuff. Staff were warm and clearly knew what they were doing. We ate too much, stayed too long, and tipped well because they earned it. Already telling people. The good kind of word-of-mouth. Five stars, easy. -
We LOVE the M restaurants. This is up there with M Tempura for us. The dishes were phenomenal. I loved how we sat traditional style like in Korea and were on stools looking out the window and people watching at we ate. Excellent service. Highly recommend and will definitely return.
