We've stayed here twice so far and we're very pleased! Finding a nice roll in accessible room can be hard. The beds were clean and comfortable! Our views from both 501 and 701 were nice. Great water pressure, clean rooms. The staff have been exceptional! We arrived late afternoon to find fresh baked cookies and coffee. The manager helped bring my luggage up without hesitation after not being able to get a luggage cart. Mrs Jenelle was so kind while checking out! I watched as she assisted a couple of older visitors helping them secure their cash. It makes you feel good to see folks who care! Mr Harry has shuttled us to Duke for appointments with soft relaxing music and a clean van. He's very pleasant! Many of the employees have been long serving. That says something to me. We look forward to many future stays. Everyone is very kind!

Great service and very comfortable, clean rooms. It's right next to the hospital, but it was quiet and dark enough that I didn't notice the ambulances, traffic, or helicopters. The parking lot dumps you onto the road in a very convenient location to either enter the hospital's parking deck or to the patient pick up area.

It’s an older building but the price is great for what you get. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Also, it is walking distance to the hospital so it saved us the hassle of finding parking.

Due to a storm, my reservation was not processed and I arrived after midnight to no room with my medically fragile mother.
The young man at the front desk went the extra mile and more ... offering us refreshments, referring us to another hotel, calling to check availability, and having the other facility's front desk staff and security meet us at the front door.
This was immediately after a terrible storm which knocked out power and downed trees.
I could not have asked for better treatment!!!

This will be a customer service experience that stays with me forever, I think.
We were looking for a longer-term stay for a dear family member, who came from out of state to receive medical treatment at Duke. We were having trouble finding an extended stay that was handicap accessible, affordable, clean, and in close proximity to the hospital.
Then, based partly on location and partly on reviews, I decided to contact The Lodge...
Shari was genuinely caring and kind from the start, in that way you can feel is sincere. She was so helpful and immediately made space for our family member.
We initially wanted a room that had an extended stay style set up, including a kitchenette, which, unfortunately, the Lodge does not have. After talking to Sherri, though, I knew this would be the right place to book.
Don't get me wrong, they DO have other amenities (mini-fridge, microwave). And the rooms are clean. and pleasant; the one we got has vinyl floors, a modern-style design with nice beds and furniture. They're also located smack in the middle of the Duke Medical campus, so everything is very, very accessible. And there are plenty of restaurants and grocery stores nearby that have the option of delivering through platforms like Instacart and Doordash/GrubHub.
Our family member has had a comfortable stay over the last several months. At one point, recently, we needed to extend their stay, but the hotel's system said they'd be sold out. The staff (including Randy and Sherri) found a way to extend the reservation without any issues and made it clear we would continue to be a priority for them no matter what.
Our experience has been so positive, and I would highly recommend The Lodge unequivocally, every time for both a nice stay and personalized, caring customer service.

Had a good experience at here. Very close to both the VA and Duke hospital. Got free packing; however no free breakfast. Hotel also clean but the outside need a good remodel. Got fridge and microwave. Most hotels are getting rid of microwave.

I can not say enough about this place. The staff is INCREDIBLE. I stayed here for about a week while my partner was in the hospital, and every single person I interacted with was so kind, friendly, and helpful!! In a difficult time like this, that meant the world to me.
The rooms were updated, clean, and comfortable. Also, if you are going back and forth to the hospital to see a loved one, the convenience is unmatched. It's just a 2 min walk away. It was nice to be able to come back here late at night after a tough day and just relax and get a good night's sleep - welcomed by a kindness at every hour.
THANK YOU to the staff here for your warmth and accommodations. Good vibes all around

Staff were very friendly and welcoming, absolutely no complaints there. They responded to questions quickly and always made us feel welcome and safe.
Our room was somewhat small and simple--good place to sleep, but not the place if you need to do any remote work or do a project. Hardly any space to even eat dinner. If you're just crashing there, you'll be fine.
The location is adjacent to the hospitals, but is nowhere near anything as far as food/drink/coffee/shopping/entertainment goes. It's a long walk to the nearest store or cafe. They offer complimentary parking if you have a car which is a plus.

Hotel beds were comfortable, staff friendly and helpful. No food or breakfast, but reasonable priced soda: even had my favorite Dr Pepper. Showers only - no bathtubs - wish I knew before I booked. Will clean room only upon request-still 3 years after pandemic. Seems we could go back to prepandemic cleaning and service.

I am currently staying while getting treatment at Duke. The first day Jenelle made me feel so welcome. She makes the stay son pleasant, seems like she have known you her entire life. A home away from home feeling.
I had to come back and update the service review. I think the young lady name is Shaquanna she is so rude I will be checking out early. That is just how distasteful she is to customers and it shows.
Thanks

I was beyond weary after a family member received a heart transplant at Duke, and the kindness and compassion shown by Randy at the front desk was wonderful! He truly cared, maintained contact with me, and set me up in a room so I could get some much-needed sleep (I always bring foam ear-plugs, so hotel noise isn't an issue for me).
The bed was comfortable; room temp. was perfect; I really liked the fact that there were NO carpets in the room, only vinyl plank flooring; it was an easy walk back and forth to the hospital (I did not use their free shuttle service); and parking at the hotel was free. The entire staff was very pleasant to deal with. Thank you again for your kindness! It was much appreciated during a stressful time.

The Lodge at Duke Medical is a nice hotel. The receptionist was very kind & gave good information regarding the hotel settings. The rooms are nice & clean. I'm glad I was able to book my stay the day before & inform the hotel of my arrival (this gave them adequate time to prepare my room for my spouse & I). The location is nice spot within Durham, NC. It allowed us to make it to our destinations smoothly. This is a good hotel to use with good pricing, quality & location. Thank y'all so much for the services.

Our room was very clean. The entire staff was so helpful and friendly. We were there for 6 days for a heart transplant evaluation and they made our stay absolutely amazing. We highly recommend you stay there if you have to go to the hospital. We will definitely stay there every time we need to go.

Very satisfied. Beautiful rooms. Excellent staff. Easy check in and out. Remember us from a previous stay. Close to the medical facility. Close to restaurants. Easy access, parking was easy. Definitely will be going back.

Average hotel. Bed comfortable. Dressing mirror not lighted. Pod coffee maker in room with only 1 regular coffee pod to go in it. Prepackaged stirrer with sugar and saccharine. No Splenda or stevia. No drinking glass in bathroom. 1 wardrobe, no closet, minimal hanging space which would not accommodate long items. When color is open it block drawers and refrigerator.
Tell me why $160 at any hotel without amenities is a good price. That equals $4800 a month my mortgage is $560. Can't understand this. I could rent a similar sized apartment in NY for a month for that price

Stayed here for our daughter’s surgery because we had to be at the hospital at 6am and this is right next to Duke. Furnishings, staff, and everything were lovely. Would give 5 stars but the bed and pillow were the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever slept on literally in my entire life. it is not a figurative expression. I woke up at 4am and walked around the room to try to alleviate the searing pain in my neck. I'm only 32 so by no means should I have this kind of neck pain from sleeping wrong. It is now almost 9am and my neck still hurts. I wish I had slept on a concrete slab instead of that bed.
