Extremely friendly and helpful volunteers who make this center possible providing necessary services to the LGBT community

“The Durham LGBTQ Center is basically a sitcom set disguised as a nonprofit. Walk in and you’ll immediately meet Alix—this totally unassuming guy who looks like he just stopped by for snacks, but somehow convinces you to join three committees before you know what happened. Then there’s Hunter, wrangling clothing donations like he’s auditioning for ‘Queer Eye: Thrift Store Edition.’ I swear I saw him tame a pile of sequined blazers and rhinestoned Crocs using nothing but determination and side-eye.
There were other volunteers too—didn’t catch their names, but they were buzzing around with that mix of kindness and chaos you only get when people are deeply caffeinated and deeply committed. And just when the scene felt complete, an admin person swooped in, said a cheerful ‘Hi!’ to everyone, and then vanished back into the office—where, I can only assume, they were bench-pressing bureaucratic paperwork or summoning the dark sorcery required to keep the lights on.
10/10. Come for the community, stay because Alix won’t let you leave.”

What a great space for the LGBTQ community of Durham! Dropped off a clothing donation and left with some fun stickers to celebrate and support pride.
