The food, the agua frescas, the bakery, the atmosphere.... I LOVE THIS PLACE. This is easily the best Mexican food and market in North Carolina. We go on lunch dates here and get a little of everything, it's so delicious and well priced. Highly recommend this spot!

My husband and I commute an hour to visit La Superior. Their menudo was far from small, it had plenty of tripe and flavor. Great for a Sunday cure. I also highly recommend their aguas frescas along with their carne asada dish. You won’t regret it.

I’ve eaten at this place off and on for about 10 years when I’m in town visiting. I usually like their menudo but this time is was served not hot enough, was a little bit greasy, and was missing the condiments I like (oregano, chopped fresh jalapenos, and the spicy salsita). Also the potato tacos dorados were bland. Finally, the salsa bar seems to be all Herdez jarred salsa.

What an experience. I didnt know La superior was hiding a gem of an eatery behind their grocery store!
I got the beef tongue taco (Taco de lengua, 4.09), which was freshly cooked and tender. It was my first Horchata, so i cant say; it was cinnamon and milk.
The tacos were top-notch authentic. Add some of the toppings and salsa picante, and you will feel spice at the back of your throat, so much that it brought me to tears.

La Superior, is indeed a superior grocery store in Durham area, with wide choices of groceries, meat, bread and delicious Mexican food. Its authentic menu is superb to taste and enjoy. This is one of my favorites in this area. People are also friendly and hospitable.
