I used to live in Durham and passed by this hotel many times, but this was my first time staying here for a night.
Before booking, I checked the reviews and saw it had a 4.2-star rating on Google. Most reviewers mentioned that the hotel was clean, but my experience was completely different.
The property is very old and poorly maintained. The chairs were heavily worn, the carpet was damaged with hole, and there was mold in the bathroom.
However, the worst part was the strong smell of marijuana throughout the entire hotel, including the hallways and my room. It made the stay very unpleasant.
Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel. -
Staff was very friendly. My biggest complaint would be the cleanliness of our room. We arrived around 7pm. I always do a walk through and wipe down before settling. One Clorox wipe across the desk I was immediately disgusted. The tub had hair in it. Dirty bathroom floor and hair in the towels. We were able to receive a new room with no problem. Second room was clean with a more pleasant smell. Breakfast was ok. All in all the stay was bearable. I would say that I’d try it again it but upon checkout we were greeted or should I say sent off by a roach crawling along the push bar of the side entry door 🤢 -
I was in town for a surgical procedure at Duke University Hospital. La Quinta by far had the best medical rate available, and I found it to be very friendly and inviting. It was very comfortable leading up to and after my surgery. The King suite had plenty of room for me, my husband and daughter. The bed was very comfortable for the immediate recovery after I was discharged. The hotel was very clean and my room was very quiet even facing the breakfast area. My only complaint was the tub in our room. It was so narrow and it dipped towards the middle. It was very difficult to maneuver with a bad knee. Even my daughter had trouble with it. Despite that, I will definitely stay again later this year for my second sugery. I will just have to request an accessible room. Another plus, this hotel is within about 15 minutes or less of anything you would need or want including the hospital. Finally, the restaurant next door, La Buena Vida, has AMAZING food. I highly recommend paying them a visit. Thank you La Quinta for making this experience so comforting. -
Room was clean, beds need replacing. Service was excellent. Location was great for us. Great mexican restaurant next door. Breakfast was actually good. Eggs, sausage, cereals, waffles, variety of Breakfast juices, great coffee. Large Breakfast area. Indoor pool area could use a deep clean, maintenance & new chairs, nearly all were broken. The courtyard needs TLC, most of the flowers/plants were dead. Had tables & chairs to sit outside, which was great. The gazebo needs repair. -
Location is perfect!!! Close to everything.Nice Mexican Restaurant next door you can walk too.Very clean rooms , it was nice, The breakfast was average they had everything you wanted to start your morning off right.Waffles, eggs ,sausage, yogurt, fruit.Id stay here again .The pet fee was minimal 30 bucks. The hotel was quite and clean .The pool was cool and the outside area was great. On a scale of 1to 10 I’d give them a strong 10.I would stay here again in a heartbeat
