This place is a VIBE. it was very busy but we were sat quickly with a reservation. We participated in the triangle restaurant week menu. Overall the food was really good, however the glass noodles were SPICY. I think they should have said something ahead of time when this was ordered. Our server was friendly but it was clear she had a lot of tables and was quite busy. I think we would come back again but make sure to have a reservation and not try to walk in.

Kind of underwhelmed to be honest. Everything was edible, but didn't put a spark on my taste buds. Mussels were extremely over cooked and gummy, chewy, and non-existent. Duck wings had a great sauce, but over charred. The rolls were delicious, the ribs were fair. The buns, have had way better at other places. For all the hype, would not go out of my way to come here, especially with the price point. Seeing other reviews and other's pictures...maybe tonight was an off night for the kitchen? Expectations were high...results...low

I loved everything about it! The vibe is incredible. It’s beautifully decorated inside and the patio is adorable! I can’t wait until they get heaters on the patio, so we can enjoy that this winter! Service was super friendly! Each person we encountered was kind and helpful! The drinks were killer!! Such a large drink menu with tons of wicked flavors and combos! The food was incredible! I’m not super picky, but I tend to stay in my comfort zone and tonight my comfort zone went for a ride! It was so delicious and there were absolutely no regrets! We will 100% be coming back!

Fun and beautiful restaurant. Bartender was super friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious and came out fast but portion sizes where conservative. There is designated parking behind a gate or street parking. I highly recommend making a reservation. I would not bring a group of 6 or more here during regular business hours. The restaurant is very intimate and cosy. There is outdoor seating. I would visit again.

Had to see if it lived up to the hype and it absolutely did. Every bite we had was delicious, favorites were the red curry, crab noodles, red snapper. Don’t skip dessert!

Phenomenal dining experience, from the quality and taste of the food to the top notch service. Drink menu is extensive and well done. My wife and I tried 7 dishes and were blown away that we loved every single one.

This review is intended to offer opportunities for improvement as I think this place has tons of potential. We have visited twice in the short time they have been open. As others mentioned, we have gotten nearly everything on the menu by now and have not been blown away. The one exception to this is the ceviche-one of the best I’ve had. Unfortunately that beautiful starter sets the standard and on both occasions it has gone downhill from there. Also as others have mentioned, it does feel like a watered down version and the strong flavors I expect aren’t there. I’d love to see this place go BIG and really ramp up the flavors. First visit: -Had a classic margarita and the specialty margarita on the cocktail menu. Both were good. -Ceviche, absolutely devine, ended up ordering a second. Well seasoned, each ingredient was attended to and made a great dish all round. -Fried rice-Bland, lacked flavor and seasoning. -Bao buns-Just okay, needed way more sauce -Shumai- One of my favorite dishes on the planet and they miss the mark. Again lack of seasoning and lack of flavor. -Red snapper-Small portion for a “main”. Fish was cooked well but that’s about all I remember about the dish. Second visit: -Singapore Sling cocktail-interesting but the bitters component totally wiped out the other flavors. -Seasonal ceviche, this time made with tuna. Again, excellent. Whoever is responsible for the ceviche needs to check seasoning on all the dishes. They know what they are doing. -Spare ribs-Disappointing. I rarely eat pork ribs and was really craving that sticky, sweet, salty, sour combo you expect. The sauce was sour and super wet. The meat was dried out as well. I didn’t get this dish to be honest. Could be such a home run. -Shumai- gave it another shot, same issue. This time the dumpling dough was also falling apart as you tried to eat them :( -Squid ink tagliatelle-So much potential but such a letdown. This was the most under seasoned dish of the bunch. Crab meat was fresh, sauce had good potential but fell very flat. -Skirt steak-Tough, under seasoned, weird plating with a glob of some sort of wasabi thing and some sliced plums in a pile. I didn’t get it. -Tried two more after dinner cocktails which at $15 a pop were extremely disappointing. Ordered the mango cocktail and the dragon fruit. Both were served in a stemless wine glass full of ice and tasted like a white claw or some sort of alcoholic soda. Nothing about them warranted $30 added to the bill. Truly torn. We’ve been super excited about this place and understand they are very new and understaffed as many restaurants are right now. We will be back eventually but think they need some time to tweak and work through these dishes to refine and bump up the flavor. Until then I will dream about the ceviche.

Just awesome. From the second you walk in you know it's going to be great. The decor is eclectic, the space is comfy, the ambiance is welcoming. I sat at the bar and had several different appetizers. The dumplings, pork buns, ribs , and duck spring rolls. All were excellent. The bartender Scott was friendly and knowledgeable. They put their own spin on popular drinks. I liked the Singapore Sling. Great experience. This place is worth it. Whether you are celebrating a special event, date nights or have friends who love good food this is the place to go!

Being Asian, I'm very particular with food that has an Asian flair. I can honestly say, I was more than surprised by the how tasty and creative each of the dishes were. We ordered almost everything on the menu. Bottom line, I am super impressed and will be bringing my friends there!! Love the decor!

Having relocated to the area from NYC a few years back with my family, we actively sought out "fusion restaurants"--the Chapel Hill/Durham area sorely lacked high end Asian fusion...until KRILL hit the scene. Everything about this restaurant is spot on! A creative menu, top quality preparation and presentation, superior service (unobtrusive but extremely attentive), fun yet polished ambience and reasonable pricing! Krill scores a grand slam! It has elevated local dining and represents the BEST in fusion dining!

This is my new favorite restaurant in Durham! Everything we had was bursting with flavor! My friend and I had the whole fish with papaya salad, pork ribs, fresh rolls, and the duck lumpia spring rolls. All were delicious! Great service and ambiance. I can’t wait to go back and try other dishes.

Great food for true foodies who like adventurous and funky Asian-inspired fare. Every dish has something in it that might be challenging for some people without much exposure to these cuisines, but it was all fantastic and the drinks were great. Server was fantastic as well!

What a wonderful experience! The food is not only delicious but unique and the ambiance and service make for a fantastic trifecta. I barely put my chopsticks down to take photos. This is an absolute killer addition to the Durham foodie scene - get there asap. Order the amazing blistered shishito peppers to kick off your culinary adventure.

Giorgio Bakastia’s newest restaurant has done it again!! Krill (Far East Funk) has taken Asian Fusion to another level with a heavy focus on Filipino Cuisine and it’s done right. The design and ambiance is Zen meets BoHo and we love the murals that were painted and in honor of the late Anthony Bourdain. We were honored and blessed to be able to attend this soft opening and the service was impeccable!! We were greeted immediately by the GM and our server throughout the evening was attentive and food was ordered and served with perfect timing. Drinks low?, they made sure they weren’t. We tried literally everything on the menu (for the most part). The Red Snapper ceviché was seasoned perfectly with the right amount of acidity and texture. The Tamarind Glazed ribs fell of the bone as you picked them up and had the perfect crunch to them from the glaze. The Peking Duck Lumpia 🤤. Talk about elevating a traditional dish! And the hoisin calamansi sauce that paired with it…. Just wow. My personal favorite was the Uni Udon Mussels and all the umami flavor that came with it. The steak was cooked to perfection and the fingerlings with house made wasabi mustard and picked plums were a fantastic match you’d probably never think of. Overall we had an amazing experience and can’t wait to come back and see how the menu evolves through the seasons. Krill is a must on your list of new restaurants in Durham.
