I’m not from around Durham, and I found the topography of the trails really unique!
There was a swamp area with green water off to the side and a meadow (just randomly in the middle of the woods) with an old barn.
The forest has an old and rustic feel with a lot of tree roots and low-lying branches. The path is also covered in pine needles. It’s a lot different from the wide and well-worn trails through forests of oak trees that I’m used to. I like the vibe and I’ll definitely come back again!

It's a great little hike (great for families). My favorite section is the shorter trail that goes near the river. There's a interesting pond you pass with some kind of green algae on the surface.

Great place to go for a short walk in the forest! They have two main loops which are .6 miles and .8 miles respectively. It is pretty flat, but the path does get narrow at points and there are lots of tree roots so be careful. The loop we went on had a cute little stream with a waterfall!

W love this little park. Very close and next to the Duke University Forest. Great hike to bring the dogs to.

This park is a series of short (.8) trails but you can get in a three to three and a half mile hike pretty easily if you combine them. There's no water to cross and no inclined so it's great for people out walking the dog or beginner hikers.
The more interesting trail is actually across the street in the Duke Forest. Enter the Mrs Brown trail and you will have much nicer views of the creek

The park itself is very small but I usually go on the Duke forest connection trail which is very nice. Not a bunch of parking so you've gotta be quick to find a spot on a nice day.
