I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience so others can make informed decisions.
During my time associated with the Hilton Garden Inn Durham Southpoint, I experienced a situation involving a staff member that was handled in a way I found to be highly unprofessional and uncomfortable. Actions taken by an employee led to confusion and subsequent conversations that, from my perspective, were misrepresented and escalated unnecessarily, even involving members of my family while I was no longer present at the hotel.
What concerned me most was the lack of follow-up and accountability from management. I made several attempts to contact the General Manager to discuss the matter directly. Each time, I was told he was unavailable. I left a voicemail requesting a return call and never received any response. This lack of communication left my concerns unresolved and contributed to an overall negative impression.
Regardless of the circumstances, I believe guest concerns should be handled with professionalism, discretion, and clear communication. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
Based on how this situation was handled and the lack of management response, I cannot recommend this property. I hope the hotel takes steps to improve its internal communication, professionalism, and guest relations moving forward. -
First off ALL the Employees at this location have an Exceptional customer service magic that you dont get anywere in the country.
Quitta is the glue that holds the team together...She is more than an employee, she IS the Hilton Brand, and represents it like Ive never seen.
Shes caring, she does every job in the hotel.
I went to bed she was at the bar, I woke up she was doing inventory.
I also had a breakdown the morning I left and she held me in her arms like I was her sister...
There was also an employee who gave the shoes off his feet to a homeless person in the lobby...
I cant say enougj about this team.
They should all be running there own location! -
The location is the best thing about this hotel. Plan on eating at one of the many places nearby. The bartender was responsible for the entire dining area. So if you don’t mind waiting 20 min to order a $16 salad or a $3 tea then have at it. The hotel other than that was fair. My only gripe about the room was that the gap in the door was massive and let all the cold air from the hallway in. It was on the side, not the bottom, so you can’t use a towel to stop the enormous draft.
The location is great though. Lots of places to eat around it. -
I had a great stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Durham Southpoint and would definitely return.
The hotel is in an excellent location right off I‑40, adjacent to the Southpoint shopping and dining area, making it very convenient for both business and leisure travel.
What stood out most was the outstanding customer service. Every team member I interacted with from the front desk to the restaurant, housekeeping and even maintenance was genuinely friendly and extremely attentive. The team consistently went above and beyond, excellent personalities, anticipating needs, offering help without being asked, and creating a welcoming atmosphere that truly elevated my entire stay. It is clear there is a very strong culture of hospitality and it does not go unnoticed. Thank you to the entire team including Jessika, Quita, Kessie, Bradley, Jaquan, Mary and Griselda. You all are awesome.
The property is very clean and well-maintained, with solid amenities including a fitness center, indoor pool, and on-site dining options. The rooms are comfortable and functional, offering conveniences like a microwave, refrigerator, and workspace ideal for both short and extended stays.
Another big plus is the overall convenience, with easy access to Duke, UNC, Research Triangle Park, and the airport along with plenty of nearby restaurants within walking distance.
Overall, this is a reliable, comfortable, and well-located hotel with exceptional service—an easy choice when staying in the Durham area. Highly recommended. -
Marvin was an excellent start to our stay! He was welcoming, communicated well and made us feel special! Our room is clean, and we are surrounded by absolutely everything you could possibly need.
