It's a nice course but the traffic can be cumbersome. Too many walking golfers throughout the day that slows up play. Marshall should force them to either playing later in the day or ensuring that they allow faster groups to play through. It should never take longer than 4 hours to play a round.

Had not played the course this year. Considering amount of play/ traffic;conditions were commendable. I was very disappointed that upon checking in/ you're not alerted as to the heavily sanded greens. Don't takeaway my choice to choose!!!

Wonderful people and course. Great food and even better pro shop. A true gem in Durham. Highly recommend.

I’m new’er’ to the area and I really like this course for the price on weekdays. The staff seems genuine and is helpful. The course is in good shape for the price. Today was the second time I’ve played the course and pace of play was addressed when I had a concern. Would recommend Hillandale for sure.

Here for Independence Day, week. Wanted to find a nice public/municipal course and Hillandale popped up, just NW of downtown and North of Duke University. Made a reservation online, not binding and gives your prices/time receipt sent to email. Has a driving range to warm up your swing beforehand. Beautiful course, beautiful layout, extremely welcoming people. Lots of space down here to play, nice open course and great design. Only played 9; we're not used to the heat down here either (95°) but nonetheless, thank you for having us. In addition, clubhouse is nice, has A/C, and a place to stop for lunch at the turn. Anyway, we hope to be back!

Great spot! Affordable pricing too. The range bucket sizes price between $5-$12, which is the best in this area. Love the huge pine trees!

I'm a golfer on a budget, so I play here most weekends. Their honors program is the best deal in the area. You save on green fees and range balls (I miss hitting off the grass). The staff is extremely friendly, the pro-shop is great, and the course is fun to play. However, the course itself is in really bad shape. There's hardly any grass on the fairways on some holes, and it doesn't drain very well after a moderate rain. I'm not writing this post to deter anyone from coming here to play. It's more of a plea to the staff and the city to put some money in the condition of the course.

Course is a staple of the Durham golf community. As a single they never fail to get me on. A great staff, always friendly and always helpful. A golf jewel in Durham that is actually affordable
