Great gym. Scott, the manager, has always impressed me by how well he knows his patrons and how he tries to work with them. He's an excellent manager, and he's been doing it for years. On the surface it may seem low on frills, but they have so many options in terms of workout machines and equipment, that you're rarely left waiting for very long between sets. I haven't always maintained my New Year's resolutions year after year to continue working out, but if I'm going to work out anywhere it's going to be at Hall of Fitness. If you're not sure it's something you will do, he sells smaller packages that allow you the opportunity to give it a try. -
While not being a member at this particular gym, I have checked out the facility while my daughter does karate. The gym has a great atmosphere, and the equipment is great. I saw a review that irked me as someone said the equipment seemed 'older', but the fact is this gym advertises itself as having one of the biggest varieties of free weight machines, not those silly resistance machines with cables. Someone looking for the ideal free weight grind will have plenty to pick from, but still enough resistance machines to squeeze in all that variety. I am recommending this gym to my friend and am waiting out my contract at my gym to expire. Come check the place out in person, thats the biggest motivator to staying fit and choosing a gym you get the best physical experience out of. Scott also gave my grandmother a tour of the facility, which while funny to me, was a kind action that you dont see from many owners. Kudos guys! -
I actually initially thought this gym would be blah, but the owner was friendly and professional. The gym is old school but has many up to date equipment. They offer martial arts for kids, group activities class. Great for weight lifters and beginners. Now they have about 6 treadmills and 5 ellipticals , 3 spin bikes , 2 stair machines , 2 row machines, 2 stationary bikes. Sounds like a lot to me. If your looking for a golds gym... This is not it. But if your serious about working out... They have all U need. I would give them a 5 star but I have to admit a lil face lift would help! -
My boyfriend and I were looking for a gym during a family visit to Durham. This place had friendly staff and friendly gym goers. It had sufficient cardio (treads, ellips, stairs) and weight machines, and (BONUS) it had 3 squats racks and a deadlift platform! The chalk bowl was lacking in chalk though.
My boyfriend was very excited to see the free weights go up to 200lbs, as our gym back home maxes out at the 120s. We went for two consecutive days and had very enjoyable workouts. If/when we visit Durham in the future, we plan to workout there again! -
After trying other gyms in the area, I stumbled across the Hall if Fitness. The difference here is an uplifting environment with very knowledgeable trainers who do more than just guide you through your workout, but also teach you how to workout. I went from knowing nothing to helping others.
