My go to breakfast spot since moving to Durham in 2019! Wendy her staff are so welcoming. Grub has a great laid-back atmosphere and amazing food. Pauli's pimento has been a recent favorite.

Food was so good and at a great price! We got hot chocolates, the west end grain bowl, chicken bacon biscuit, and house made chips. So well made and will definitely come back.

Based on my rating, you can tell I did not care for the food. I see they have thousands that rate them very highly, and I hear their catering service has a great reputation. I found the food less than average, and the presentation made it seem even less. The grit bowl was served in a paper bowl and the coffee in a paper cup. I had a hard time figuring out how to get water. You have to order prior to setting down. You are given tip options prior to getting your food or even setting down. I doubt I will return.

Nice little restaurant, good food with reasonable prices. Salads were delicious. Not a ton of inside seating but they have a large patio. Looks like they do a lot of carry out. There’s no tap water though, have to pay for bottled.

Great restaurant! I have eaten in and also gotten large catering orders for pick up and the experience is always great. They are very nice. The restaurant can get busy but lots of people do take out so it's not too hard to find an open table. For dine in and take out you order at the front and then if you are dining in they bring your food to you.

Hey ya'll 😘 went to the GRUB Durham today. The customer service was awesome! The atmosphere nostalgic! My food (egg salad sandwich with homemade chips) was ok...the sandwich had a good consistency and was very pretty, but not very flavourful. I still enjoyed the meal though. (When l got there at 5 the parking lot was practically empty but filled up rather quickly. The place wasn't full when l left but there were many people there.) I'm glad l gave GRUB a try.

Cool concept and fun design. Great potential. Loved the atmosphere. I'm not a fan of order then sit and wait for what clearly is a sit and be served establishment. Very poor execution here. It's also lengthy when many people are in line. It's simply not necessary and bad from a service standpoint. However, once past that we got to choose our table and the food was brought to us, albeit without silverware nor condiments. Also, I'm not sure why they choose to have some really funky hours. I'm mean, why close in between lunch and dinner on a Saturday or Sunday when people want to watch sports or hop in for a quick bite while running around? And close at 7p? That's just losing potential $$$ on both. Regarding the most important part, the food. We had a party of 5, a couple burgers, chick sand and the brisket. All were outstanding. I only took a pic of mine but food wise you will not be disappointed. It's really too bad the rest of the joint wasn't as on part with the food.

Reasonably priced and food came out fast. Unfortunately, the cashier neglected us twice before we placed our order, so hence the slightly lower rating. I liked my tuna salad sandwich and the couscous was surprisingly good. Complemented the sandwich well! I got one of their plates (the Slammer) and it was decent.

A great find! Went for lunch and the whole experience was pleasant. I got the lunch combo with half chicken salad sandwich (so so good!!) which came with two sides. The sweet potato fries and grits were both awesome! My 5 year old got the smoked hot dog and chips and the hot dog was indeed quite smokey - I liked it, he didn't. The house chips are delicious. Prices were awesome too! Parking was the only nightmare.

What a fun place! Huge, rooftop deck and fun ambiance. An obvious favorite spot for Duke folks, this place is a must visit. First, you stand in line and yes, there will be a line to order your food! Once you get your chance, you are greeted with that Durham charm sprinkled with a bit of sarcasm and wit... Love it! We sat and the food was brought to us quickly. I had the Mama's Big Bird with Greek Couscous. Two pounded out chicken filets, breaded and fried. House made pickles and bacon. Just lovely. Couscous was good as well, next time will opt for the slaw. My wife had the Gobble Down with potatoes. Exactly what she was looking for, delicious! Of course we had a bottle of wine, because why not!? Excellent stop for sure. Worth noting, they are known for their burgers and as I saw them go by, I could see why... Next time!

I loved the smoothie “greena colada” I will be back to try them all. I ordered a “cowgirl bowl” tbh I didn’t like it but that's because I had no idea what stoneground cheddar grits was, but not bad. I like the service even there was a lot of people I got my breakfast fast, I loved sitting at the bar.

UPDATE: We went back and it's' just as amazing as ever. I tried the Cubano Burger with a side of cheese grits... nice! We were a big group and they had no isses with us at all, food came out hot, quick and so so very good. Everyone at our table comments about the flavors and how well everything went together. This place definitly helps to define the 100% positive vibe going on in this downtown Durham neighborhood. They have a huge "Brown Turkey" fig bush out front and this time of year they are extra bonus treat for us fig lovers. The staff and patrons are all very cool people. 13/10 for sure... give them a try! FYI, the "Moma's Big Bird" just make my list of top 5 sandwiches ever.

Absolutely a great restaurant to discover. Cute and unique, plenty of outside seating, and even rooftop dining area. Parking is a bit of hassle, especially during busy hours. Friendly and upbeat staffs. Not too crazy about the order set up; you place your order up front as soon as you enter, before you sit down. This may not seem like a big deal, but they get really packed on the weekends and you could be standing in a long line outside the restaurant instead of getting seated right away. But if you don't mind the wait, the food are definitely worth it. I ordered the Slammer (2 eggs with bacon or sausage patties, taters, grits or fruits and a flapjack). Everything comes out hot and fresh. The patties were of high quality meat, juicy and flavorful. The cheese grits are delicious. And the pancake was fluffy and perfectly cooked. Great first time experience, will definitely return when back in the area.
