Excellent food! I got the brussel sprout sandwich and it was so delicious. I do think this place could be improved with more efficient ordering. There was a long wait in line, but plenty of open tables. I much prefer being able to sit and order online from my phone if table service isn't available.

Great breakfast place. Had the fried chicken biscuit which came with pickles. I'm usually not a pickle fan but the way they did these ones was actually really good. I'll probably keep them on next time. Service was quick and coffee was good too.

You know the food is good when it’s 2:30 pm and there is a line out the door. What an experience to see a vintage gas station turned into a neighborhood restaurant. The food was very delicious and there were new flavors to experience. Wendy was wonderful and will definitely return. If they suggest a cinnamon roll, definitely say “yes!”

Good service and a nice spot. The food here was phenomenal the first time I came a couple years ago. It was good this time, just not good enough to bring me back again. The breakfast hash bowl is legit sliced corned beef with some flavorful peppers under some blandly cooked potatoes. 2 slices of bacon for $3 as a side is pretty ridiculous too.

Had brunch and the Grub Mimosa-the food was tasty..cooked well. Plastic utensils and cups, but porcelain or ceramic dishes was different. Not nearly enough parking nor indoor seating for the crowd..especially with cool or inclement weather. Great location for warm days with the rooftop and outdoor seating!! Would like to see them in a larger setting with ample parking. Would go again, for sure.

I am a dog trainer, and many of my clients want to be able to take their dogs to places that allow them -- such as GRUB Durham. I frequent GRUB on training outings, and have found the staff to be polite and accommodating. Better still, the food is excellent, and the prices very reasonable.

This brunch was just outstanding. We had a biscuit sandwich (with great sausage) and yummy blueberry pecan pancakes. Everything arrived hot, the servers were great...I honestly can't complain, except the hot chocolate was meh. But that's a small thing compared to the excellence everywhere else in this meal. It's a given to say we'll be back. I can't wait!

Great food, very nice restaurant! It's owned by the same people as NOSH, and it is very similar food so if you like one you will like the other. There is a ton of outdoor seating, and the staff all seems very respectful about covid. I've only ever been for dinner, but I have heard the breakfast will blow you away!

Good, not great. Been here twice. Both times I have felt the flavor power just not there. Today was my final try. I ordered the jeweled chicken sandwich, butter bean corn salad and veggie soup. Bland, bland, bland chicken salad. The butter beans salad was good but not great - needs a zippier dressing. Veggie soup was good not special though.

Great food. Owner Wendy great and welcoming. The “design” of ordering in their requisite queue is basically disastrous. The servers are generally good, but one or two treat you like they are doing you a major favor by serving you. C’mon guys, you’re good but could be great.

Visited GRUB for the first time on a hot Saturday afternoon with my family. We ordered the Mama’s Big Bird sandwich which was quite good. The sweet potato fries were wedges and were shockingly crispy and tasty. We also had the 1200 BBQ sandwich which was completely lacking in flavor. Overall, the food was okay but I do not think I will ever return to GRUB. I do not care for their business model of not having table service. I would have spent more money had I been able to order additional drinks after sitting down and eating. Additionally, this restaurant is not good for families with young children. One of the staff members made a comment to my wife about sitting down at a table before ordering with our baby and toddler while I was standing in line to order. Showed a complete lack of empathy and understanding for what it takes to entertain two small children.

My partner and I went at about 10am on a Saturday morning and they were certainly packed with a long line.We ordered our o food, a mimosa, and sat on the top platform. We had the bucksters hash bowl and cowgirl bowls. The cowgirl bowl was good, well flavored, and filling. I would’ve appreciate the brisket being in Bite size pieces to make it easier to eat, and Ill also note most of the food in the bowl was the grits. The same was true of the hash bowl, the majority of the bowl was the potatoes. It was cooked well and the pastrami was delicious, but the bowl would’ve lacked enough protein if we had not added a scrambled egg.The mimosa was standard, nothing overly special. All in all, we would eat there again but it wasn’t particularly mind blowing.Lastly, as someone with a gluten allergy I had no issues here and no reaction :)

Cafe style. Meaning you order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. It was very busy when we arrived, with no open tables. We stood in line for probably 15-20 minutes to order. Luckily a table opened just after we ordered. And the food didn’t take too long to come out. All the employees were very friendly, wearing masks, and they were quick to get tables cleaned up as people left.I ordered the cowgirl bowl, and a buttermilk biscuit. The grits were a little more “wet” than I prefer, but it wasn’t packed with flavor, but it was good. The meat was cooked perfectly. The biscuit was phenomenal. I had the iced rocket fuel to drink, no cream or sugar added, it had coffee ice cubes which is fun, but it didn’t have a very strong flavor. Average as far as iced coffee goes.We also had a brioche cinnamon roll, which was very delicious. I could have eaten two of them.As a first time visitor it would have been helpful if they had some more signage. Such as which door to enter. The “order here” sign was kind of small and not super noticeable. There was also uncertainty as to how to get a refill on a hot coffee. Or how to just order another drink. Did we have to get back into the 15-20 minute line? We didn’t realize it was cafe style/seat yourself until we arrived. Some other customers appeared puzzled as well. All in all a good breakfast, the outdoor seating was really fabulous, and all staff were friendly. Would be better and more enjoyable on a slower day. It also appears that they take reservations for large groups if that’s something you need.

A day of restaurant roulette led us here. And I have to say we were all extremely satisfied. 10/10 worth the que. The staff was friendly and very quick. The food was phenomenal. I had the Pauli pimento with the butter bean corn salad and couldn’t me any more satisfied.

Great place with friendly staff. They stop serving at 7 but still let our group order even though we were a little late arriving. I had the ribs with the twice baked potatoes which I highly recommend. I also recommend eating on their rooftop deck on a nice day as it is a great way to unwind.

Great place to grab a light breakfast/brunch. I had their best bird biscuit sandwich with eggs. The portion may be small for most people but I really enjoyed the combination of pickles, fried chicken, and their sweet/sour sauce. Would return for a casual takeout on weekends

Fantastic food and service. Great space outdoors for nice weather - which we had. Loved the beet smoothie! First time eating here and the food didn't disapoint. I have been here for brunch before and what I got was not particularly special, but maybe I didn't order the right thing. In my opinion, after eating there at all times of the day, I think Grub is best as a dinner spot. I am also impressed by how they pivoted for COVID and got their to-go window moving so smoothly. HIGHLY recommend.

Awesome place for lunch with a variety of options. Ate Mama's Big Bird and the sweet potato fries and they were great! Tried Pauli's Pimento Cheese and Jeweled Bird. It was all very good. The bacon on these sandwiches was devine and cooled perfectly, It was crisp and had a great maple, salty flavor. The only negative was that the service was slow. However, the "hostess" did come by and apologize for that and tell us she was thankful that we waited so maybe it was an off day The atmosphere was awesome. We are on the rooftop in the sun. It was my first time but I will definitely be coming back to try other options!

A MUST order is the ribs. The ribs make this place for me. I could eat them every night of the week for a week and not get sick of them. The cut of the ribs and the flavor are delicious. I always sub my side and upgrade for a side of crispy Brussels Sprouts-- YUMMY! To be honest, I haven't branched out too much because I love the ribs so much.

This place is a must visit if you are visiting Durham. We stopped here on recommendation on our way out of town. I am from Seattle, and we run a fierce brunch game, and Grub Durham blew my expectations away. Everything was delicious, fresh, and well presented. I had also never eaten grits before, but I am hooked after this experience! Try the veggie grits with an egg, have the cinnamon rolls, or any one of the sandwiches. Whatever you choose, you'll be sure to remember it.

This week, I visited for the first time. I ordered the Greek salad with couscous. Missing were cucumbers, olives, peppers and onions. In other words, half the ingredients were missing. I sent an email to the restaurant the next day(Tuesday) but there has been no response. Poor on both accounts.

Great brunch spot near Duke’s campus! I don’t have a photo of my cinnamon bun because I ate it so quick! Visiting from Seattle and wanted some local fried chicken! Tried the chicken fried chicken and it was very tasty. Of course with COVID things are a bit wonky - order at the side window and not much time to view menu. But nice that the upstairs patio is open to sit and eat. Service was good - brought our food quickly and cleared table afterwards quickly too. Glad we finally found a place open on Mondays and it was a good choice! Will go again.

The staff is awesome. Food is great too. But the staff turned a negative into a positive quickly. Sat down outside on the patio Saturday for brunch and everything was fine. As soon as the food hit, a swarm of flies immediately decended on our food. The staff quickly found and prepped a table inside and moved us there quickly. Good music to listen to while eating.

This is just a wonderful place with wonderful people. I am so glad that they decided to open up shop near my work place. I go there regularly and really enjoy the freshness of the food, local-sourced ingredients, and tremendously tasty food! I highly recommend the Grub Durham for special events as well. Their carrot cake is the BEST I have ever eaten and I have been to quite a few bakeries and have sampled quite a few carrot cakes in my life! If you want to really enjoy fresh food with a Southern twist, then go to the GRUB! You won't be disappointed.

Based on breakfast alone this is a nice place for early breakfast on the weekends that is easy to get to and is not mobbed like other local restaurants. You come in the front, pick what you want from the menu, then place your order at the register and take one of the named chicken signs and find a place to sit. If you sit at the bar they'll take your order there. I've had both a couple of grits bowls, a breakfast biscuit sandwich and a cinnamon roll and they were all tasty. I would recommend the grit bowls over the breakfast sandwiches on the basis of value since the grit bowls will fill you, but not necessarily the sandwiches. They have indoor and outdoor patio and rooftop seating. Small parking lot on the side.

We enjoyed a late breakfast here and were able to sit outside, which was nice. The staff was friendly and the food came out pretty quickly, too. Everyone at the table liked what they ordered, and left feeling satisfied. We will definitely be returning.Edit: Grub has become one of my go to spots. The food is delicious and quick, and the staff are wonderful. I love the brussel sprouts burger, which is hard to eat because the sprouts want to fall out but so worth the effort. The wings and ribs are a big hit with my son. And we both love the homemade chips.

Met family who had all traveled to the Triangle (myself included) at Grub for brunch. I just got done writing an email to Grub as the service by Rita, the cashier, was that good. Honestly some of the best service I have experienced at any restaurant ever. By the time I entered the restaurant (I was last), Rita knew everyone by name and was asking my family about school/work/travel, etc. She was phenomenal and made a wonderful connection with everyone.Food was also very good--I got the Jeweled Bird and everyone else got breakfast food. The chicken salad was very good and the homemade chips were fantastic. We finished with cinnamon rolls which were still warm as they had just come out of the oven--hard to not love a warm cinnamon roll. It wasn't too sugary or cinnamony which meant you could actually eat and enjoy more than a bite or two.The atmosphere is super cool as well--Grub used to be a gas station so the outside looks kind of funky and the inside is sort of retro diner meets modern. Definitely a comfortable place to enjoy breakfast or brunch.Prices are super reasonable--brunch was less than $60 for the 5 of us even including dessert. Would absolutely return next time I'm in Durham.

Lots of well-prepared sandwiches and burgers, with at least one oyster mushroom burger for vegans. Sides are tasty. I had tailgate slaw (yum!), my wife had the couscous (also yum!), and our son had the potatoes, which appear hand-cut of the hash brown persuasion, but baked brown to delicious perfection.People are friendly and the cooks are very good at their craft. Nothing pretentious. Prices are quite modest for the quality and portion sizes. We are new to Durham Green to Go boxes, and Grub put our takeout order in ours, making the experience even better. Our order, true to the promise on the phone, was ready in 15 minutes. You can certainly eat in, either indoors or out, and there's also a rooftop dining area that puts you above the traffic. Give Grub a try!

This place is out of this world, I came for breakfast/brunch with my girlfriend and was thoroughly impressed. The look of the diner-style eatery in the old fashioned gas station is just impeccable. This restaurant looks like something from a film or a video game while not looking tacky or like it's trying too hard. We were able to eat on the roof where there is covered as well as uncovered seating and a TV for those interested. The food was delicious I had eggs with cheese, bacon, home fries, grits, and a biscuit. My only complaints being that the biscuit was a little dry and the grits a little watery. But seriously those complaints truly are small potatoes especially considering how delicious their small potatoes are. (Seriously the home fries taste like a more refined version of a Bojangles fry and I couldn't stop eating them). The service was friendly (although the waiter did have a bit of a laugh when I asked for silverware not knowing that I could just grab some from a station on the roof, I get it though) and the price was pretty reasonable for food, water, and atmosphere of this quality. Would I come back here? Absolutely!

This is a great spot to catch drinks or dinner. Someone had shared about this place and I am glad that my wife and I decided to check it out. Great fresh food! Very cool vibe with the roof top seating.

The food was good, but I only wish if they had more vegetarian options. I thought it would serve some very good milkshakes but even that was kind of okay. The quantity was good enough but I didn’t find any other veg options. So not a good option if you are a vegetarian.

We are visiting from Michigan and drove past and saw how busy they were. Figured it must be good. So glad we stopped! The food is worth the wait! The cheddar grit bowl was outstanding and they let me customize it with some wonderful heirloom tomatoes and their incredibly delicious sausage! My husband loved his breakfast of eggs, sausage, biscuit, sausage and potatoes as well. Thank you for the great breakfast and offering delicious gluten free options.

Great food! Staff is always super friendly. The rooftop is never available for seating when I visit. That's my only complaint.

Very cute, inside an old gas station. We chose to eat outside as it was a beautiful day. There is also a second story outdoor eating area which was closed for a private event while we were there. Food was delicious and service was great. Next visit we plan to stop here again! My daughter did Mama's Big Bird and I did the Piper's Pickwich with the Mediterranean tuna, a salad and fruit.

It's an nice cozy place. The mimosas are strong n good! We sat outside upstairs. It was sort of hot but we managed. I ordered the West end grits bowl. It wasn't bad. I just wished my egg yolk wasn't running. My friend had a chicken biscuit with bacon. Her biscuit was sort of dry and crumbly. The side of maple peppered bacon I ordered was the best thing next to our drinks.

A well-known Durham place for good eats, food is tasty and prices are reasonable. A decent amount of outside seating. One orders inside at the counter and depending on the crowds, it can be a little chaotic. Grub closes at 3 pm so look elsewhere for dinner. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely staff, they were all so very kind and helpful. The rooftop was serene to sit and watch the night's rain storm roll in. The prices were all really really reasonable, not this insanely inflated price that you'll find across the rest of the 'hip' places in Durham. DRINKS

The food is so delicious! The staff v is very friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. The owner Tammy was helpful to us and took care with our orders and our visit. My son is going into the hospital for a transplant. Tammy enabled us to pick up scones on our way to the hospital the next morning. The fire staff members we saw were wonderful! Thanks to Tammy and our new friends ❤️

We had my sons graduation reception catered and held at this facility and I can’t brag on this establishment and the staff enough! They went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. They were extremely helpful and friendly. They even managed to help serve the food during their peak time, which I’m still not sure how they did. I didn’t encounter one employee that wasn’t looking for a way to assist us with a smile. The food was amazing and the service was above reproach. If you’re looking for a place to host an event with a good atmosphere, delicious food and outstanding staff…this is your spot! Thank you for making my sons graduation so special❤️

Friendly staff. Good food. Decor and setup is so cute. It's a kinda different set-up..you order at register and then get seated. Staff share a tip jar vs the people who come and bring you your food. Would definitely go again.

We are from out of state and decided to get dinner here on a whim and boy, am I glad we did. The staff was genuinely friendly (not that fake friendly you often get), the service was fast, and the food was just top-notch. I got Maybelle’s Brisket and it was the by far best I’ve ever had. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that they’re LGBTQ+ friendly and have non-gendered bathrooms (that’s not something I would have expected to see in North Carolina). Next time we are that way, we are definitely going back!
