smaller compared to the Rodgers family skate park in Apex. Regardless a solid to come practice or cruise. & don’t be intimidated if you’re just starting out, you’re more likely to get helped than judged😂. -
The pictures versus what you see are significantly different. The park is not maintained, and it is street parking. The lighting is adequate, but don’t think I would come back in the evening with children.
While we were here, there was a group of men smoking marijuana… Not stating or bothering anyone, just smoking. Just things to consider if you’re bringing children.
We had a good time, but I don’t think we would return -
Durham Skate Park is a regularly visited location for my 13 year old son. He can spend hours at a time there, learning new tricks, meeting new skaters, and just hanging out. It's a nice, family friendly atmosphere. The older teens and adults are always kind to younger kids, like my son. I typically read while he skates, but the farmer's market and food truck rodeos are sometimes going on close by, so it's a great location that offers something for everyone. Also, it's located directly across from the police depot, so I've never seen any signs of shady activity, which brings me great comfort as a parent. -
I am sure if you are local at this park, you probably figured this place out and love it. The park looked cool, but it doesn't flow. There is a 3ft quarter that has nearly 5 inches of vert. Some obstacles have zero run-up room and have another obstacle right after it. Seems like they tried to fit as much as they can on the property and awarded the lowest bidder to build it. I will say that it is better than nothing, I just wouldn't drive out of my way to ride it. -
A great place for skaters, scooters and onlookers. Clean, lots of room for users to share and overall a respectful, safe and friendly environment. Knowing the general etiquette of using a park would be beneficial to learn in advance so your child or user will have the most positive experience.
My son rides a stunt scooter and rides like the rest of the bunch that skate, he uses the pool, bowl, rails and ramps with no issue and has been welcomed by the seasoned skaters from day one. It is a wonderful community of people, in fact we moved to Durham so we could be closer to this wonderful park. Come on out, you will have a great time as a skater, scooter, parent or onlooker, there is room for everyone of all ages and skill level.
