I am a cancer patient at Duke Cancer Center. I went to The nursery to help find plants for air filtration in my room- while I go through my treatment. Keith help me through the whole process. He was cordial, empathetic, professional, and took the time to help me select each and every plant while giving me an education on what to do and how to do it once I return home to my state of Georgia. he went above and beyond what I thought, or even asked once I walked into the nursery location. If you’re looking for a place, that’s gonna take you on an educational journey of plants that he treated like they were human and part of the family Go see him at Durham Nursery and you won’t be let down, but lifted up above and beyond all your expectations.

Great shop with a really nice collection of both indoor and outdoor plants, and the prices seemed very reasonable. We enjoyed browsing through everything they had. A couple of the plants were not labeled very clearly though, with some just marked under general names like “foliage”. Also, one of the staff members did not seem super knowledgeable about some plants or where they they were picked from (inside the store or outside). Overall still a good experience and worth checking out.

I live down the street so I tried this place more than once over the years. It’s full of rude and unhelpful employees. Plants are plants and they’re expensive. I’d rather buy them from happier people who are willing to educate me. After I tracked down a genius employee, she told me all of NC has clay and I had just moved to Durham from the outer banks 🤣

I have to agree with other reviewers, the employees are unhelpful and unwelcoming. The indoor plant selection was limited and I noticed several plants surrounded by fungus gnats. The inventory online was not consistent with what I viewed in the store.

I went to Home Depot down the road, got better service, and scored a really nice Monstera Mint for a great price. I will happily stick to For Garden’s Sake and Big Box stores for my indoor plant needs.

I highly recommend this garden center! Incredible selection of plants and the staff is so incredibly kind, knowledgable and passionate. It is a beautiful way to spend your afternoon and the plants I have bought have been thriving!
