A cooperative grocery store located in Durham, featuring local and organic groceries and specializing in locally made products, prepared foods and a full butchery at the meat counter. The Durham Co-op Market was founded in 2007 and opened its doors on West Chapel Hill St. in March 2015, with the mission of creating a neighborhood co-op grocery store where everyone is welcome.

Favorite place to shop for fruit, veg, and some other products. Service is great and it's usually much quieter and less chaotic than HT or WF. They have a reputation for being expensive, but I think that's because people might not look closely at all their products. Fruit and veg prices are good (or excellent if you consider that their produce quality is generally higher than nearby stores), a number of other products are competitive or priced lower than nearby stores, and some products (most meat, packaged, and canned goods) are usually higher, sometimes significantly, but sometimes lower! Membership is not required to receive sale prices 🎉 They allow you to bring your own container for bulk foods. You can tare it at the register or at home.

Amazing customer service! The co-op was willing to stay open a little later for me on July 4 when I called ahead. Not only were they accommodating me but other last-minute shoppers by staying open a bit past their scheduled closing time. On a holiday! That was just so thoughtful to help us out when the employees really did not have to. They also did it again today when I pulled in right as they were closing, and they were so kind about it! Thank you so much, Durham Food Co-op, for your outstanding service. While not expected, I appreciate you all doing me favors not just once, but twice within 3 days. Thank you!!!!
