Best chicken in the triangle! The owners are super friendly and the restaurant is clean and well maintained. The only downside of eating here is that there are so many amazing options for sides and mains that it’s a hurdle choosing what to get. Chicken is fried fresh when you order so it always comes out hot and perfectly cooked. My coworkers and I went and tried almost every dish they had - ALL were 10/10. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

First meal in NC for me! Friends took me here and it was their first time too, but it came highly recommended. Ordering is like a cafeteria line. Staff at the front takes your order of protein/sides, and you wait for them to put it together. I opted for a fried chicken plate which included full wings and drums, collard greens, and mac and cheese. The fried chicken is fried fresh, and comes out piping hot! Chicken is juicy and the crunch is perfect. I enjoyed the mac and cheese the most out of the sides. Staff was friendly and offered us complimentary cake as well since it was our first time. These plates come large...so I would actually share a plate with one other person. Parking lot attached as well. Definitely a must visit when you're in the Durham area!

Small spot loved by the locals. I ordered the meatloaf with yams and mac & cheese. The meatloaf had way too many onions but tasty. Yams could have used a little syrup and the mac & cheese.....idk. Just not to my liking. Which I was surprised due to all the southern type foods. The cake and tea way to sweet. The staff was very kind and attentive.

I'm pretty sure the hours show them closing at 2:30p...I guess 1:43p is close enough? Good thing I didn't drive 30 minutes to get here...that's sarcasm. I do plan to come back; if the food is decent I'll amend this review. EDIT: The food is good, southern good, and the employees are super nice. I'm still annoyed at them closing 45 minutes early on my first visit, but given the employees, atmosphere(also nice), and delicious food, I can't in good faith give them a low rating....4.5, and that rounds up to 5. *The pink lemonade was way too sweet, tasted like syrup...keep in mind if you have the beetus.

I love good food and this place had been high on my list and my daughter really wanted to go as well. It did not disappoint. Everything was excellent. Fried chicken to order fried fresh. Seasoned sides like green beans and taters l, collard greens, and Mac n cheese.. it was close to my daughter's bday and she chose this as a place to go and when the staff heard that they brought out a slice of red velvet cake and sung her happy birthday. So so nice and took the time to make some memories. We will be back for sure. Give this place a try if you are ever in Durham, you will not be disappointed.

GO GET THIS FRIED CHICKEN ASAP!!! OMG My mouth is watering as I type this just thinking about those collards. The chicken is fried fresh to order, extra crispy and juicy. The mac & cheese- just look at the pics *yum* The owners couldn't be friendlier; they welcomed us when we walked in, helped us through the ordering process, and we had a great conversation with them after our meal. Tre (the owner) even gave us a piece of red velvet cake and carrot cake that we ate when we got home. Red velvet is my favorite cake, and this was obviously home made, and one of the best I've ever tasted. The Chicken Hut is soul food and southern hospitality at its finest! Portions are huge and the price is right ($14.99 for my meal that also included a drink and hush puppies.) My only regret is that we didn’t try the peach cobbler and fried shrimp. Go here if you're ever in Durham. (Now I'm trying to figure out if 3 1/2 hours is too far to drive just for lunch hahaha)
