Great spot ! The outside playground gets really hot during the day making it really uncomfortable and unsafe for the kids to go down the slides.

This Durham City park is a peaceful campus and home to the I.R. Irwin Senior Recreational Center. I love the classes here, especially yoga, and the small, clean fitness center. There are green shaded grounds, a large pavilion with picnic tables and a playground. Plenty of parking and the best feature is the friendly staff. They go out of their way to be welcoming and helpful.

Visited to take a Soul line dance class my friend Angela teaches on Fridays at 9 am. The check on process was fast. The dance room is located off of the lobby. About 20 people attended the class. Angela was wonderful with the students. Fun and patient. I enjoyed myself. Looked like the other students and teacher did so too.

Friendly reception. Were careful for the safety of adults and youth entering, they provided a see through bag for belongings to comply with safety rules, but also the staff are thoughtful and friendly. They were willing to reserve space for us to enjoy the facility & to practice our sport skills without distraction. The entry cost is reasonable. The Holmes Recreation Center provides a couple of racquetball courts, a big indoor Bball gym and pool.
