Nice, peaceful, welcoming park for families. It was clean and there were parks & rec personnel on the property along with a Durham County Deputy so i felt safe.

Fields are adequately maintained, and frequently available for public use.

Park was well maintained. Unfortunately within 10 minutes of me, my toddler and husband kicking around a soccer ball, a police officer drove past every other area (of white families) to the deserted soccer field we were in and parked near us, watching. And then didn't leave until we started packing up and got into the car. At which point the cop drove off....slowly.

This is a pretty nice park, it has a little shelter with a couple of grills, you can have a party here. I don't know if you can reserve it or if you just first come first serve it. Reason for three stars is it takes a long time for anything to get fixed. Right now some of the little cog wheels that kids can play with are completely stuck and have been for several months. Something else always seems to be broken, and sometimes hazardous. There are a bunch of ball fields around and I'm not sure who plays there. But those fields are usually busy with kids playing sports. I can entertain a 3-year-old and an 8-year-old here for about 30 minutes to an hour max.

Ballfields are always clean and orderly and everyone is doing a great job of social distancing and masks. Only reasons it is not 5 stars is parking. So many times you have to park on the far soccer field parking and then trek with all your baseball gear, chairs, etc to the other side of the park

This is a great park. Very large and spacious. There is a nice playground for both little and bigger kids. There are multiple baseball and soccer fields. There is also an artificial turf field. Easy access to tobacco trail entrance.

Herndon Park is a great little sports venue with two well-maintained baseball fields and two soccer fields, equally well-groomed. It also has a batting cage and decent sized playground. We don't use any of that anymore with grown kids, but it is a good spot to park for a run or bike ride along the tobacco trail. The only reason for four stars is the availability and condition of the bathrooms. They seem often locked and not always that clean.

Great park with access to American Tobacco Trail. As of March 2021 most of the playing fields are under construction.

Normally this is one of my favorite parks, but right now it is under construction. I think they are putting in turf where the glass field used to be. Unfortunately they made a tight parking situation much worse, and cars end up at a blind dead end where there used to be a loop. So, everyone has to turn around. Since they've taken out a section of parking, cars are all over the grass and it's a real mess, even if only the soccer kids are out. Beware spring when baseball is in session and the playground is in use. You might just want to go across the street. Also... SO MUCH MUD!!! Wherever you walk or park, your shoes and tires will be a mess.

It's a very nice park. Very well kept. It is very busy so not enough parking. People just park wherever they want. But I really like it.

Great park for all ages. Great space and something for all the kids. They also have 2 to 3 baseball fields and soccer fields in the park.

Lots of space to share. Though groups reserve for practice, they are typically willing to share a corner for our fencing group. Field tends to stay soft along the edges for days and days after a rain.

Excellent park for fields and baseball and batting with an old but usable bathroom and water fountains. Great access to tobacco trail but very poor shade everywhere like the kids playground.

City park on land furnished by the Herndon family. Specialty here is ballfields. Restrooms open during warmer seasons, port-a-johns during colder seasons. The park also serves as a trailhead for the American Tobacco Trail.
