Don't sue me, but I have lived in Durham for over 10 years and this is my first time coming here. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I'm country girl and the food reminded me of my country upbringing. We went with the family style dinner and it was on point. I will definitely be back!

I've been eating here for 25yrs, and this is the only place that has the best of everything on the menu. If you live at the coast it's worth the 3hr drive. If you live at the mountains it's worth 3hr drive. If you've never eaten here put it on your bucket list of things to do. Everyone have a blessed day and Happy Early Holidays!!!

Not good that's good for you. Everyone there looks unhealthy. The food is comparable to southern country cooking, so it's very popular. The barbecue is excellent and known far and wide. Not my thing.

The staff was awesome! Very efficient. It's been a while since I've been but I would definitely take friends back that want home cooked food.

Hands down the best ribs I've ever eaten! I've been to some national championship winning rib restaurants and they dont hold a candle to this place! I recommend getting there early and bringing cash. You know a place is good when people tip the chef!

Bullock's food is always very good, tasteful and hot. Very good 👍 home cooking. My classmate and I enjoyed our chicken livers dinners very much. The wait staff are always friendly and helpful.

It's a great Bar-que and the friendliest place to eat. Long standing King of home cooking and barbecue. The best in my opinion of both worlds. But the staff is the story, long standing customers and you know that is true because the cashier can call out some of them by their name as they pay

Pretty good food, ain’t gonna lie. But you should know a few things before ordering. 1. Don’t order take out, because they will tell you the most expensive items, since their menu isn’t listed. 2. Bring cash, they won’t take debit (even tho it doesn’t say on their website) or credit. They have a ATM there, but there’s always a line, and it has a pretty hefty “operating fee”.

Been going to this place most of my life. I don't get to eat here often as its 90 minute drive for me. This is a great place to eat and take the family. What I did not like on my last visit were customers parking where they wanted and blocked the driveways to the main entrance as my dad is disabled.

Was recommended this by family who had lived nearby before. Was thinking the BBQ was the thing to get, but wasn’t very impressed by it. I guess this is just how they do BBQ in NC, but it wasn’t very tender meat, and not a fan of the sauce. Should have just gotten something different on the menu that was more home cooking. The burgers, wings, and vegetables all looked good around us. Hush puppies on the table is a nice touch.

I went to Bullock's because it is a Durham institution having been established in 1952. A classic Southern diner serving bbq and much more yumminess. The pulled pork was delicious and I especially liked the turnip greens and hush puppies. The service was outstanding and friendly and I just can't get enough of Southern hospitality!

My first experience with NC style bbq. I enjoyed it but wish I would have explored something else off the large menu since I found much better bbq elsewhere. Service was wonderful.

I've visited several times in my travels through the area. By far the BEST BARBECUE sandwich in NC. I had the strawberry cake for the first time and it was AMAZING . The customer service is always A-1. One employee I always encounter is "LARRY". He is upbeat, he always greets you with a smile, he's friendly, he is definitely a jewel for your company.

Believe it or not, I had their grilled scallops and they were better than many seafood restaurants I have had them in over the years including some very well known ones. Without a doubt, Bullocks makes the best Brunswick stew and fried chicken. Also, check out their pickled beets.

O.M.G. Just look at it! Family style meal served with lots of smiles and laughter. It was our first visit but it won't be our last. Would put that fried chicken up against ANY I've ever had before, even my mama's! (Sorry ma) haha But truly, everything was wonderful. Thanks guys!

Great food and great service...I would give them 5 stars but there cash only policy is insane especially during a pandemic.

My first time at Bullocks and the food was good. Loved the deviled eggs, baked beans and hushpuppies. Bbq was okay, but not bad, will definitely be back and try the fried chicken and desserts.

The service is good. This place has been around for some time and caters to families. They have family style meals that are pretty generous in size. The fried chicken is probably the go to there. I had a full rack of ribs and they were cooked well, but the sauce was not good in my opinion. It ruined a solid stack of ribs cooked tender. Hush puppies and fries are OK. Cole slaw was pretty good. All and all a great place to take the family for dinner. Still think the best bet is the family style meal with fried chicken. Best bang for the buck.

Nice family owned restaurant great food . Been going here years. The service for call in has gone out window I guess . Long wait time when you arrive to place order that spills over into dinning room area . Not good for people that use to have convince to call in on lunch hour to pick up their food . Or just mere convince in between running errands . Majority restaurants have that service but for past 4 months you can’t get call in . Might be wise place a free waitress answering take outs orders because I know probably an inconvenience for one owners Who’s ringing customers up and take orders correctly by phone but customers really enjoyed that ! Along bringing back luxury of nice feeling of being able chat a few person fixed your order making them feel respected and thanked while you tipped them fixing your take out order instead feeling rushed because your staff has a long line because you all decided to no longer answer the phone for take out orders! Nothing wrong with doing some things old way and that is by showing respect to your customers instead for your convenience as owners unless you’ll trying weed out some your customers by trying this new way of service . Good Luck ! 😀

Bullocks catered the engagement party for my daughter and fiancé this past weekend. It was perfect. Highly recommend the BBQ, fried and baked chicken, Mac n cheese, baked beans, slaw, hush puppies, cobbler and banana pudding! Hot food was delivered on time and set up smoothly. They provided plates, napkins, cups, utensils, extra serving pieces, condiments etc. I didn’t have to worry about anything. Stress free service and food was delicious. Everyone loved it and Portions were plenty. Working with Ty and Bullocks was the best decision ever! You won’t regret using them for catering. Go to their restaurant or get take out. Eat local!

This was our first time going to this establishment. Even though the restaurant decor is very dated. The service and food was phenomenal. The price you paid was reasonable also. Our children were so happy the sweet tea was good.😊 Someone in that kitchen new their way around some seasoning. Our meals tasted homeade. I'm so glad I don't live close to this place. I would probably eat their everyday!

Bullock's Bar-B-Cue is family owned and operated. They serve all types of food, but the specialty is BBQ. I have never had a bad meal from Bullock's. I highly recommend them. You get your money's worth and you are keeping it local

Good place for straight up, country, inexpensive fare. Hush puppies are good and by the basket. Used to go here a lot when I worked right down the road. Most other places in the area are chains, :( with the exception of Shanghai. :) Nice, old-line family restaurant with a billion pictures of famous visitors on the wall. I like the Eastern N.C. style barbecue sandwich – tell them you want slaw on it.

This place is great! It has that good Ole down home, mom and pop feel. And the service is great! Most of the wait staff have been there for years. The food is awesome by the way! It never disappoints!

Though it's Sat. at 4:30, but quite busy, the services was great and the food was very tasty. Those two usual do not go hand in hand at any busy food establishment. My husband and I sat at the first table in the center isle. I couldn't walk far because I'd had surgery. My only regret today, I didn't get the Waitress name. I'd like to give her recognition for continuously checking on us. She's did an outstanding job.

Best damn food in Durham hands down. Been eating here since I was child, at 57 now and everything on the extensive menu is still good. The family style meal of bbq, fried chicken and Brunswick stew is a all you can eat feast.

Bullocks is very affordable, they have a very cool, diverse and loud people vibe, there is EVERYTHING you'd ever want to eat on a shocking expansive menu... but the food is only AVERAGE TO BELOW-AVERAGE in taste and quality and authenticity. The portions are BELOW AVERAGE in size, but you quickly come to appreciate that once you see and taste them. It becomes clear that many, many items are simply mass-purchased from a supply chain. This makes sense because NO ONE could home cook that many menu items every day on a premises. Just one tiny example: the Mac & Cheese.... NOTHING southern or authentic about it, CLEARLY not made there, ZERO flavor or appearance, and I've literally had better out of a box of Kraft.
