I stopped in the Bull Durham Bar after a golf round for some drinks and eats. First of all, the atmosphere is amazing, a really nice old money vibe. The service is impeccable, Isaac served me at the bar and served great drinks and had the PERFECT amount of small talk (which is a very difficult line to walk). I had the 4 cheese flatbread which was delicious and saw other plates which looked delicious. I would note that the food and drinks are a little pricey, but if you know that going in and are okay with it, it’s an absolutely wonderful experience. I cannot recommend this place more. -
From the moment we walked in and were not assisted in finding open seating despite multiple service people standing around. I ordered a cheese board and the steak frites. Three pieces of cheese total.
The steak was under and cold along with my fries. I requested they reheat it and Aracely’s our waitress was quite rude. She remained short for the remainder of my meal and my food came out once again under and lukewarm fries. I sent it back.
The overall experience from entering the hotel to the restaurant was very unimpressive and underwhelming. My suggestion skip this and go elsewhere.
As for the staff hire friendlier staff. -
The actual price is different from the menu. They are stealing money from people. The manager removed the extra bill until we asked. This is not business with faith. -
My wife and I both had Shrimp and Grits and we both got stomach pain and severe diarrhea within 2 hours of the meal. For more than a decade, we have enjoyed numerous outings to the Washington Duke Inn, this is an outing that we regret. Pity. I have always enjoyed the shrimp and grits, especially as the recipe varies but has, until now, never disappointed.
We tried to contact the restaurant, the bar and the hotel to warn them of the tainted shrimp (perhaps due to toxins from warm water algae blooms) but, as far as I can tell, there is no way to talk to a human using the phone numbers published online (literally no options to transfer to a human - just a long monologue praising the hotel). -
Nice spot to enjoy a drink and some casual bar fare. Overlooks the golf course. I was passing through the area and visited this bar while staying at the Washington Duke hotel. Got very busy the night I was there, but staff, especially Mason, did their best to keep up and served me with a smile. Though I didn’t sit outside, I did walk out to the patio and would definitely give it a try once the weather cools off a bit.
