Bar Virgile, located in the heart of downtown Durham, is a restaurant and bar specializing in craft and classic cocktails as well as an ever-changing dinner and small plates menu. Products are sourced from the area's best purveyors, making it possible for the team to ensure high-quality, high-standard food, drinks and service. You'll always find friendly and knowledgeable service, a bustling atmosphere and thoughtful offerings–all of which have made BV a landmark Triangle area destination. There are no reservations, and the small, cozy restaurant can fill up quickly on a DPAC show night. Overflow seating can be found at its sister bar, Annexe.

One of those places that’s aesthetic AND has great food!
Almost everything on the appetizer list we have tried, and we have not once been disappointed. We always come here and get the house burger, and try something different .
This time for appetizer, we tried the muscles which came with fries and this incredible sauce. For entrée I ordered the fettuccine with shrimp and chicken that had the best crunch from being grilled. -
Stopped in Friday for dinner and some drinks. Atmosphere was chill and the bartender Drew was great! Knowledgeable and made all the drinks to perfection. Service was exceptional and the food was delicious! Asked if he could make a Final Word cocktail which is a twist for a chartreuse cocktail of the named Last Word cocktail. Cocktail was perfect! I had the Braised Pork risotto which was delicious! I definitely will be back, finally found my bar for Durham!

Not only does Bar Virgile have amazing food and drinks, it’s an experience being here. The vibe is so relaxed with interesting decor and moody lighting. Our server was amazing and recommended we get the burgers and they did NOT disappoint. Honestly, one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I noticed the Honey Bee Sour pictured on the wall and even though it wasn’t on the menu, the bartenders made me one and it was actually the best drink I’ve ever had. And trust me, I’ve had a lot of drinks!! I can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu. 10/10 date night!

We were in town to see a show and stopped here to grab a bite to eat. It was a nice cute spot. Service was amazing and the food was fantastic. I asked for a Tom Collins and the drink was perfection! It's hard to find a bartender that can still make a good one. This will not be the last time I visit this spot.

1) our waitress was fantastic! She had the perfect energy, gave great commentary about the menu, and was perfectly attentive without being intrusive.
2) the vibe of the restaurant was perfect. It was cocktail lounge but with great food and comfortable seating. We walked right in on a Friday night at 7pm and got seated in a fun, lively environment.
3) the food was awesome. Great portions, unique dishes, fun drinks, fair prices.
We were worried this place might be a little “typical” considering it’s so close to DPAC, but it’s got every bit of Durham swag to it and is a great repeat date night spot.
We got: fried okra (amazing, fresh), burrata (delicious, not heavy), kale salad (light, great side with our main) fish and chips (fish was delicious, fries are shoestring-ish, but good)
