I can here cause I heard it was a museum and a restaurant and I only went to the door stairs and the art work is gorgeous. I’m supposed to come back Saturday with my friend to look at all the artwork. I’m going to school for digital Photography so this is a good place to see all the artworks. I’m only 20 years old and I’m hoping to book a hotel for my 21st birthday this August. I don’t know if we can take pics but if so then I will do that this week.

Staff was great and rooms are comfortable and clean. Modern decor with art gallery. We had a fantastic meal at The Counting House! Will be back for sure!

Nice hotel and location. Problem: we wereon the “dog floor” and no one told us the deal. Every time someone walked down the hall one of the dogs in the rooms started barking. After 8 or 9 repeats, I called front desk. They said they would handle it. A few hours later (11PM), same thing started up. Wife called again and they did something then. Otherwise neat place. Ask for a quiet floor.

21c is a pretty cool hotel. The art is pretty neat and the rooms are very nice. The beds are comfortable and bar/restaurant has excellent food, drinks and atmosphere. The doors could be a little more sound proof, but otherwise it's a great place to stay. It's literally right downtown with lots of options for quality food and things to do. I recommend it. If you're hanging in your room, watch the art channel for a documentary about the creation of the hotel and some secrets to it's past!

Passed the museum plenty of times and never had the pleasure of seeing a room. Checked out 1305 on the 13th floor and it had a great balcony view facing Corcoran and the Unscripted Hotel across the street. Definitely look forward to going back.

I wish I'd known the beauty of this place prior to checking in. If I had, I'd have spent more time there exploring rather than literally showing up to bathe and sleep. It is a little gem right in the midst of Durham excitement and nightlife and what little I did see of it was spectacular. I would absolutely stay here again, especially with friends to hang out and socialize and take what I'm sure would be really beautiful pics. Sorry for the low quality ones I'm posting... I was tired and it was late lol. I forget names, but both people I spoke to (and the lady I spoke to during the day, assisted me with check in, and also with check out) were magnificent in regards to their professionalism and customer service. Highly recommend this hotel!

Very trendy hotel with slow check in service. It's interesting and has a gallery inside. It is a converted bank building but for me it just didn't work well. I felt like I was staying in a bank and not a hotel. The vibe is just a bit off. The lighting made our room seem dark and unwelcoming. The phone didn't work. Some of the original floors are office feeling. It seems too trendy for comfort. But it is very artistic and interesting.

This hotel caters to adult guests, and is not, under 12, child friendly. Very little to do for kids inside the hotel, no pool, luckily the weather was nice during our stay. We booked the room due to a wedding block discount. The king bed was nice, but not enough room for 2 adults and 2 children. We had room for one roll away bed, and one slept on the floor. The bathroom sink was clogged and drained very slowly. The valets were very friendly, but service was costly. We didn't your the museum much but it seem to have some unique pieces. The hotel is located in the heart of Durham and within walking distance of many restaurants, bars and shops.

Very beautiful hotel with nice rooms and great views. The art throughout the building really enhanced the experience. We will definitely stay here again the next time we're in town.

It's a tourist destination because of the artwork in the hotel but it's not a huge amount of Art. Most of the conference rooms for meetings are pretty small. They have a decent size area on the first floor where you can do receptions and they have a full-size bar on the other side of the floor. Hotel is nice it's just smaller-than-expected on the inside. Note the security / valets are always in the front and will ask you where you need to go when you are entering.

the art experience is real and deep. the collection rotates. unexpected contemporary social themes. several galleries in the hotel. the basement houses the old building bank vault turned into a sitting area. bring your party and drinks down. the staff is very helpful and proud of the hotel, the art, and durham. rooms are well appointed with large bathrooms. lighting is a bit dim and moody. the gym is good sized and well equipped with a full size steam and sauna room.

Attended a wonderful wedding reception here including catered dinner. Would rank higher but have not stayed here overnight so I don't have enough information for a complete review. The art does rotate, so you can count on finding something interesting.

Very swanky hotel. Loved the art gallery and funky bathrooms in the lobby. Rooms were nice and clean. Staff was friendly. Only complaint is that you have to call the front desk to get ice delivered to your room, which took a long time.

Set up for a wedding reception was good. Mimosas were okay. But the bar is located right outside where the reception was being held. And it was well stocked. Two thumbs up.

My goal now is to visit each 21c Museum Hotel! I loved my time in Durham. Staff were incredible, room was gorgeous, location perfect, art museum and bank vault fascinating. I toured both Duke and Chapel Hill during my hurricane evacuation retreat from Florida. I also attended my first Bull Durham baseball game! Fantastic week.

Stayed in the 21C suite. Best part of the stay is the excellent hospitality. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Food is excellent. Anything we got at the restaurant was just great. Worst part is that the building is old and dirty. I travel a lot and I would say if they did better cleaning , this is one of the best places I have ever stayed at. Will stay here again if I am ever in Durham.

Business schools across the country should send students to 21c to learn customer service from Nancy because she is the greatest. Came here to celebrate our engagement and Nancy helped make it perfect. And Rob was very helpful and accommodating on our night of check in. Highly recommend, and masseuses were wonderful.

This was a different but great experience especially the museum inside of the hotel. The staff was nice and rooms clean. My girls and I enjoyed the arts and contributions to women as the theme in the museum. Also the complimentary soap and lotion was very nice. I tried to order at check out but they sold out.

Our stay at the 21C Museum Hotel in Durham was great! Donald greeted us at the front door and was always happy to see us when we were coming and going. And Travis, the bartender, gave us great service and even better drinks ( highly recommend the pretty in pink). The hotel was very dog friendly which worked out in our favor since we try to bring our dog everywhere with us. Our room was very well kept and had a great view and we even got a chance to use the gym which had more than enough equipment that looked pretty much brand new. Highly recommend staying here!

Super posh renovated bank building in downtown Durham, converted into a museum, restaurant, and hotel. The hotel staff were very accommodating during my stay, and really went above and beyond! Super comfortable King size bed, and amazing views from my corner room! I highly recommend checking it out whether you are a local, or just visiting the area. It was fun riding the electric scooters around downtown, and made it easy to get back and forth from the hotel. Definitely plan to come back again!

Wonderfully eclectic hotel in downtown Durham. There is an art museum on floors 1 and 2, and the entire space is decorated in a trendy, hip way. On the bottom floor, you can visit the old bank vault which has couches inside for relaxation, and they host private functions there from time to time. The rooms were nice, comfortable and well appointed. I only knocked one star off due to the lack of a fridge to store your own food or beverages. I'm not a big eater when I travel and had no place to stash leftovers. Instead you get a minibar. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would return again!

Though I've never stayed at the 21C, I've had lots of experiences with it—it is one of my favorite photo locations in Durham! We've photographed one gorgeous wedding here, and I've had several other sessions here over the years, from wedding day First Looks to engagement session to bridal sessions. The basement vault is one of the most visually striking spots, and I've made some of my all-time favorite photos in it. Staff are always helpful and kind when booking session times. The terrace suites are perfect for getting ready; the food courtesy of Counting House was excellent; the ballroom drips with art deco elegance to striking effect; and the staff managed guest flow perfectly in order to execute the flip from ceremony to reception space. Absolutely love it here—cannot recommend 21C, its staff and environs enough!(On a separate, personal note, we have taken advantage of massage services at the spa—why not, with such great luxury amenities so close to home?—and found both the massage therapists and the spa atmosphere calm and rejuvenating. Thanks, y'all!)

Such an amazing experience at 21C Durham. The room was super comfortable and the amenities were perfect. There was an issue in the spa at our appointed treatment time however the spa and hotel staff went way above and beyond to make it right. Thank you 21C staff for helping make our anniversary amazing!!!

Picked the 21c hotel due to it having great reviews and overall it was okay. The room was great, the bed was comfy, the view from the deluxe king room was pretty cool. The rest of the hotel was pretty underwhelming if I'm honest. The art was interesting, and we got better information about restaurants and area from the valet than the front desk. Overall it was a good stay, but prolly won't stay again.

The room was nice. the art work was really nice to see throughout the entire hotel. The view from the 15th floor was amazing to go along with all the other perks in the penthouse. We also felt very safe knowing you have to have a room key to navigate through the hotel from the elevator. Don't forget to visit the lobby downstairs where the vault is also located. The restaurant on-site has really good brunch selection.

Stayed in the one of their executive suites. My room definitely one of the best views of the city I've seen, so far. Bed and pillows were SUPER COMFY, valet, lobby, room service,, and housekeeping staff were all AMAZING. Located in a great spot. Convenient to food, ice cream, bars. Planned to only stay one night, but ended up extending for two.... and I'd absolutely come back.

Very nice room, pleasant staff, awesome art curation. Good value for cost. Great location with excellent food nearby. The hotel restaurant looks really good, but was not open when I visited. Will definitely seek out this hotel group for future trips. This was absolutely ideal for my family as I could spend as much time as I wanted looking at the art at my convenience while my family relaxed in the room when they were finished. A++. I've never been more pleased with a hotel!

My family and I had plans to go to a different restaurant around the corner but by the time we got there they weren't seating any more tables because of their waiting list vs. the time left to close. We quickly walked up the road and saw this place and decided to take a chance at getting a table at The Counting House. 15 minutes to kitchen close, they still sat us and we received stellar service. This place is beautiful! Between the art installations, decor, ambience, food and service, we will definitely come back. I would love to check out the hotel and book a weekend here with the hubby too! **be sure to check out the basement where the Vault is!

Excellent customer service and positive hotel experience. We made a mistake and accidentally only booked a single night during an important wedding weekend. The manager corrected OUR mistake and rebook us in the same room for an additional night at no additional charge within 10 minutes. She also went above and beyond gifting us with drink vouchers at the downstairs bar for our patience with waiting. Beyond this, the rooms were clean and spacious not to mention the hotel itself is so conveniently located in the heart of downtown Durham.

We stayed at 21C Museum Hotel over the Memorial Day weekend and highly recommended. I've been wanting to come here for a week and get away since it opened, so I was excited to finally check it out. We had a corner suite that provided a great deal of space to stretch out. The king size bed was firm, and incredibly comfortable. The huge bathroom and walk-in shower were a plus. The only negative thing about the room is that they provide a mini bar as opposed to a mini fridge, so we struggled to keep the wine, beer, cheese and berries that we brought with us cold. We enjoyed cocktails at the counting house -- expertly prepared and thoroughly enjoyed!I loved The Future is Female exhibit currently on display and have shared some of the photos I took of the art, as well as a few other art pieces throughout the hotel not part of the exhibit. The bank vault that is original to the building is super cool to check out, as well. Be sure to go through the walkway behind the wall!!I want to give a huge shout out to the valet, Joseph. We had a flat tire on the way into town and he called all around for us looking for a place where we could get our tire replaced. He went above and beyond to help us, and we appreciated it so much!I would highly recommend 21C Hotel!

I stayed at the 21c for a work summit so I got to experience the meeting rooms as well as the hotel rooms and I was pleased with both. The hotel rooms are very comfortable and despite the COVID precautions, the staff was very responsive when I needed anything (like ice since they don't have ice machines). The meeting rooms are covered in original artwork as are the surrounding hallways which are part of the museum. They actually made the meetings better as breaks were spent checking out all the artwork.

I celebrated my 45th birthday with my best friend at 21c. My experience was absolutely amazing. The gentleman that worked the front desk Saturday, May 15th in the evening were very helpful, and extremely knowledgeable about the art. They were absolutely wonderful. The valet staff we’re wonderful and very knowledgeable about the local attractions. I can’t wait to return♥️

The location is great and the museum is intriguing. We had several issues with our room including a lamp that didn't work, a mini fridge We couldn't use because it was already filled with pay for items. The staff brought up a replacement lamp and a mini fridge. The toilet paper holder kept coming off the side of the bathroom counter and there were some lights out in the vanity. The beds were extremely comfy and the staff tried to accommodate any shortcomings.

Lots to like about this unusual hotel. We were booked into a more generic one in town when my wife found this and we opted for it instead. When you hear there art in a museum, you prepare to see a couple of modest pieces. Not here! This is the equivalent of a perfectly respectable small museum or large gallery - with terrific work in the current “Future is Female” exhibition, including major names like Jenny Holzer and Carrie Mae Weems. The room was also well designed and beautifully appointed. We loved the purple bathroom lighting. The gym is impressive, too. We will be back!

My stay here was OK. First, the museum was interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed some of the artwork. It is also in an excellent location in downtown Durham. On the other hand, the room was ok. There were issues with the TV as well as flickering lights. We could also hear the neighboring room's toilet running whenever they used the restroom which was not ideal. I was able to speak with a staff member, Rob about these issues and he was extremely kind and helpful. For the price, I was expecting more from this experience. The hotel is very unique and interesting but fixing some of these issues would go a long way to create an enjoyable experience.

When you are in Downtown Durham, NC try out this place for cocktails, fancy dinner with wine and hang out at their "secret basement" which is actially the ruins of an old bank vault. Its fascinating to note how they turned the vault's safety deposit room into a lounging area. You can bring your drinks too!

The hotel is centrally located in downtown Durham with easy access to the major highways and close proximity to dining and entertainment. The art galleries within the hotel are a bonus, but unfortunately for us, that's where the compliments end. The room service left a lot to be desired. On our first day, a Sunday, we called to order breakfast, they did not open until 10 am, and then when our food arrived it was cold and the order was incomplete. On another day we called for ice. They don't have any ice machines on the guest floors. The ice never came. On yet another day we requested that our room be freshened up while we were out...it was not done even though there was a housekeeper a few doors down when we left. For a 4-star hotel, I expected much better.

We had a great time at 21c in Durham! The rooms were a good size and the service from staff was great! The first floor bar had a sizable selection and good atmosphere. The only reason I’m giving 4-stars is because a few of the fixtures in our room were dated/broken.

Fantastic experience. Great staff, up to date, spacious, comfortable rooms, great views if you're on a higher floor. The museum is a great addition as well and open 24/7 to guests. You can get a drink at the bar and peruse the museum exhibits. Free waters in the room as well as Nespresso is a nice touch. The restaurant and bar (Counting House) are also great. Valet service can be slow as it seems they only have 1 or 2 people working at a time so there can be a long (15-20 min) wait for your car. Even if you call down ahead to have your car brought around, you can be waiting a while until a staff member can give you your keys. Would definitely choose to stay here again if coming back to Durham.

The stay was okay but I felt it could have been easily improved considering this being a 4-star hotel. The spa experience was the best part of the stay. Sheryl and Lynette were amazing! The room was a little underwhelming, we booked a luxury queen. Didn’t feel very luxury. Lights were broken/turned off in the middle of use. Shower wasn’t properly streaming causing water to pool on the floor. The staff was nice though I feel like their tone and presentation/hospitality was a little lax.

It's definitely an experience. We loved the art exhibits, worth checking out if you are in the area. The rooms however, a little disappointing! They don't quite match what you see in the website photos. They felt very dark. If you like unique urban "boutique" hotels this may be your kind of place. No mini fridge, the Nespresso was hard to figure out, and no ice machine on our floor (that we could find) We only had 3 pillows on our king bed for the two of us. But- the staff is very friendly, it was very clean, and the view from the room was great!

We had our wedding block here recently and we had an excellent stay for 4-5 days and many of our guests shared they did as well. We worked with Eli who was responsive and helpful with all of our requests and asks. Once we arrived the valet team was so helpful and accommodating and this was throughout the weekend. Our guests also mentioned how friendly the team was at the front desk -- and they spoke to us and were so friendly throughout the weekend. Our guests loved the local feel and the art galleries. We also had brunch at the 21c Museum and highly recommend it. We stayed in the 21c suite and the views of Durham were beautiful. The housekeeping staff was also really accommodating with services we needed throughout the weekend. Overall, we loved our stay and this was because of the friendly and thoughtful staff throughout the weekend..

I've stayed here a few times for both pleasure and business. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and the location is hard to beat. The rooms are small - but we didn't stay in them for long. There is so much to do around Durham to get you out of your room! I agree that they aren't very noise proof, so bring ear plugs or a white noise app on your phone if you're a light sleeper like me.

Pretty disappointed with our experience. We used 21c for our wedding block and they were pretty disorganized from the start. Two separate guests were told the block was full when we had only filled 8/10 rooms. Some didn’t receive their welcome bags. The room was fine otherwise but I wouldn’t exactly recommend them for a wedding block. Very irritating when planning a wedding and dealing with a lot of other moving parts & a little embarrassing because it looked like we had poor planning.
