I stayed in the 21 C Suite which is the entire 15th floor of the hotel (formerly a bank) and it was a lot of fun! The suite has 1.5 bathrooms. Spacious bedroom. Wet bar area with mini bar. Huge living/dining areas with a full sectional. And the best part is the huge outside terrace/balcony with the stone soaking tub on it overlooking downtown Durham. Amazing.

Irene is absolutely amazing and knowledgeable of not only the art but of the history of the Hotel in general. Speaking with her was a breath of fresh air and the light that shines within this young lady is different from the light we see in the world today. I just want to thank 21c for having this beautiful soul on their team. I will be retuning and advise you all to do the same! Ask for Irene. She’s on the night shift!!!

All in all the location is the selling point of this place. The room is super clean but the decor is kinda sad. Everything is beige. And that is a really unfortunate colour for a curtain. It just looks like it has been hanging in a smoker's home dor the last twenty years so it is soaked in greasy nicotine and dust. I just don't feel like touch it even though I know it's clean. We haven't really used any services, tried the restaurant but we couldn't get a table. The art gallery is a cool feature and worth checking it even if you are not staying in the hotel.

Thoroughly enjoyed this unique hotel and museum experience in Downtown Durham. Perfect one night staycation as part of our 20th wedding anniversary. Thanks #21C

Very cool art gallery concept hotel with provocative and interesting art. The hotel has a swank spa that has a gym and sauna. Couples massage was delightful. Overall the hotel staff was super nice and it was a stellar experience!

Pretty disappointed with our experience. We used 21c for our wedding block and they were pretty disorganized from the start. Two separate guests were told the block was full when we had only filled 8/10 rooms. Some didn’t receive their welcome bags. The room was fine otherwise but I wouldn’t exactly recommend them for a wedding block. Very irritating when planning a wedding and dealing with a lot of other moving parts & a little embarrassing because it looked like we had poor planning.

I've stayed here a few times for both pleasure and business. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and the location is hard to beat. The rooms are small - but we didn't stay in them for long. There is so much to do around Durham to get you out of your room! I agree that they aren't very noise proof, so bring ear plugs or a white noise app on your phone if you're a light sleeper like me.

Enjoyed my stay at this hotel but the room had a few issues that a 4-star hotel shouldn't have. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the art is wonderful. Room pros: Spacious and excellent view, I stayed on the 9th floor. Room cons: Easy to hear people next door when using bathroom and on hallway, lighting was hard to use, blowdrier didn't work and sink drained very slow. Other than these issues, it is a nice hotel.

When you are in Downtown Durham, NC try out this place for cocktails, fancy dinner with wine and hang out at their "secret basement" which is actially the ruins of an old bank vault. Its fascinating to note how they turned the vault's safety deposit room into a lounging area. You can bring your drinks too!

Lots to like about this unusual hotel. We were booked into a more generic one in town when my wife found this and we opted for it instead. When you hear there art in a museum, you prepare to see a couple of modest pieces. Not here! This is the equivalent of a perfectly respectable small museum or large gallery - with terrific work in the current “Future is Female” exhibition, including major names like Jenny Holzer and Carrie Mae Weems. The room was also well designed and beautifully appointed. We loved the purple bathroom lighting. The gym is impressive, too. We will be back!

My stay here was OK. First, the museum was interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed some of the artwork. It is also in an excellent location in downtown Durham. On the other hand, the room was ok. There were issues with the TV as well as flickering lights. We could also hear the neighboring room's toilet running whenever they used the restroom which was not ideal. I was able to speak with a staff member, Rob about these issues and he was extremely kind and helpful. For the price, I was expecting more from this experience. The hotel is very unique and interesting but fixing some of these issues would go a long way to create an enjoyable experience.

We had a great time at 21c in Durham! The rooms were a good size and the service from staff was great! The first floor bar had a sizable selection and good atmosphere. The only reason I’m giving 4-stars is because a few of the fixtures in our room were dated/broken.

Stop by spontaneously on a date night and thoroughly enjoy the exhibit. Art work was well placed throughout the museum, I liked the old money vault, had no idea that building use to be a bank. Great Stop on your evening/weekend out.
